QBs aren't cheap. Paying 3 of them means less money to spend elsewhere. Which means the defense suffers. And this season has shown what having a poor defense can do.

If you want to be a top 5 team, you gotta pay. We’re 4-10 million behind the top 10 spenders.
A top Portal QB 3-4 million, so if we can’t afford one then people are right,
UT isn’t a top destination job.

So we should throw more money at a portal QB to come here, then let GMac transfer after next season, after we paid him a boatload of money to come here to begin with, having never played a meaningful down for us? Heaven forbid the kid actually improve with an off-season of first-string reps.

If we're not going to play the QBs we actually recruit, then we need to stop paying them to come here.

After Merk transfers, we will have 2 scholarship QBs…a redshirt FR and a true FR. We absolutely have to take a portal QB to have 3 scholly QBs.

I believed it when we recruited him and I still do: GMac can be a star here. That said, I don’t think it’s asking a lot to go out and get a portal QB for the cheap just to have that third option should GMac go down.

Recruiting news is news.

“How the coaches feel” news or “what the coaches should / need to do” news is opinion.

You should be able to tell the difference.

No coach is gonna put out there to a guy with a podcast that’s gonna blast the info out to fans that he thought his QB would be farther along. Surely you understand that?
