Can't happen contractually. It's an SEC v Big Ten matchup.I agree, it’s definitely time to move on from playoff talk and transition to speculation about a bowl game.
How about the Music City Bowl.. Tennessee vs Memphis State..?
A fun, intrastate rivalry we can enjoy since that other team in Nashville appears to be out of our league ( so to speak…) this year.
I was there....worst fans ever. Had drinks dumped on me and wife leaving the stadium and was threatened and cursed by 20's something age guys outside the stadium . Student section chanted f*** UT entire game.Glass half empty guy, huh?
How about the Casey Clausen win at Miami to snap their 26-game home winning streak.
Yep . . . Most snakebit team I've ever seen:Is that the dumbest season ever? Have 4 games you don't win by a point differential of 8 points?
The Citrus Bowl becomes the 123 Mortgage bowl and the 123 mortgage bowl becomes an opportunity to dab up the guy you played against in high school once basically.Yeah with the opt outs now, it lessens the appeal and it's very difficult to enjoy pickems everybody used to do because you don't know who is playing or opting out.
Just like the NFL, it's fun in the last three or four weeks of the season to see who plays themselves in and who plays themselves out, even if your team isn't really in the running.
As far as bowl game for UT, I don't know if Duke's Mayo would want UT since we played in Charlotte in the kick off game this year, but they might because of brand recognition.
Citrus against Miami would be cool as well to get exposure in that recruiting area.
My ideal bowl game would see Joey A start and regardless of big lead or not, see G Mac the entire second half.
If we had played a normal schedule that year instead of scheduling BOTH teams playing in the NC game as OOC teams, we would've been playing for a title ourselves.Yep . . . Most snakebit team I've ever seen:
Missed 2 FGs and clock ran out at the 15 yard line to tie the national champs in the opener.
Pick in the endzone against Notre Dame.
Got a FG blocked so far backwards against Bama that it set up their game winner.
Gagged on a game winning FG and tied Auburn.
Terrible troll attempt 2/10 wouldnt recommendI agree, it’s definitely time to move on from playoff talk and transition to speculation about a bowl game.

We aren't making the playoffs but not having beaten a playoff caliber team this season has nothing to do with how we would perform if we were in the playoffs. For instance, looking at the teams currently projected to be in the playoffs. How many playoff caliber teams has Notre Dame beaten this year? How many has Miami beaten? How many has Oregon beaten? How many has Ohio State beaten? In all reality if we made the playoffs how far do people think we’d go? Name one team we’ve beaten this year that is playoff caliber.I’ll hang up and listen.
There are people still on this board that think if UT had beaten Oklahoma and went 10-2 they still wouldn't have made the playoffsWe aren't making the playoffs but not having beaten a playoff caliber team this season has nothing to do with how we would perform if we were in the playoffs. To answer your question of how far we would go, it depends on who we matched up against. We would obviously have a road game first round. Again, looking the current playoff projections on who the first round hosts would be, I'd say we would at least have a shot against either Ole Miss and Texas Tech but that's about it. Maybe Oregon, but that's just because I really have no idea how good they really are. They lost at home to Indiana and beat Iowa by the skin of their teeth. Those are the only teams of any quality they have played.
None of those teams listed have played anybody. I see the ticker at the bottom say ND gets decisive victory on the road at Pitt lol. It’s Pitt ! Those teams up there don’t play **** for a schedule. We aren't making the playoffs but not having beaten a playoff caliber team this season has nothing to do with how we would perform if we were in the playoffs. I used to hate the way the national championship was determined by a poll. Playoffs is better. Bowls were always just an exhibition game anyway, not necessarily meaningless.I hate the fact that the CFP has all but destroyed bowl games. They are nearly meaningless - especially those without historical name recognition. I do think the student athletes (along with their parents) probably enjoy the experience of travel and travel (spending) money for the athletes.
Miami would have to have quite a few things go their way in order to make the ACCCG. They are currently a game back of Georgia Tech, Virginia, Pitt and SMU. SMU has the head to head tiebreaker. They play Pitt, so they could control that. Basically, Miami would have to win @VT and @Pitt, either Georgia Tech would have to lose to Pitt or Virginia would have to lose to Virginia Tech, and SMU would have to lose to both Louisville and @Cal.I don't think there is reason to have much hope for a PO and even if we got there we don't have a defense to win a game.
But, it's likely we will be 20 when it comes out tomorrow. And every single team in front of us (with the exception of maybe Utah and Miami) will have at least one more game where they will be underdogs. And Miami and Utah may have to play in CCGs. If Virginia loses to UVA then Miami is probably in. If not then UVA has to play a title game. Of course we are just as likely to blow one of our last two games as well, but seems like there's a lot of chaos yet to come.
