Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Big 10 has 3 good teams Oregon, Ohio State, Indiana. But I think Iowa, USC, Michigan, and Nebraska are are solid teams as well. Ohio State/Indiana are the only 2 I think that can legit win the natty, yes I believe Indiana is capable, not because they’re elite but they’re just as good as the other good teams in the country. No one is elite this year.

SEC has a bunch of Solid teams with maybe 4 good ones Bama, Ole Miss, UGA and A&M. And I think Bama and UGA have legit flaws that will cost them in the playoffs. But they have good coaches that can cover up those flaws so we will see. It’ll be interesting to see unbiased officiating with them lol. The rest of the SEC besides the bottom 6 Miss State, Auburn, South Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky and Florida are all pretty solid teams though. that could be said by every team that makes it. So I think A&M, Indiana and Ohio State have to be the three favorites to win it all atm. But they’re not overwhelming favorites, this year even a Texas Tech that gets in could legit make a run at the natty.

So the SEC is deeper overall but the Big 10s top 3 teams I like more than the SECs top 3 teams honestly.

I see no world in which any ACC team or the group of 5 makes a serious run at a natty. So those 2-3 spots aren’t happening. But it should be a pretty unpredictable playoff.
I think the sleeper team is Texas Tech, they are a good football team. Great Dline.
Blowhio State is the only legit good team in the B1G. Indiana is good but they are Arkansas level good.

I guess it depends on how you define top, but when you consider the well over 100 FBS programs, yes, Tennessee is unquestionably a top job.

Top 5? No, I don't think so.

Top 10? Very possibly. I'd say so.

Top 15? Indubitably.
I was thinking in other terms. We don't get classified with the "blue bloods". That tends to be teams like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Alabama, Michigan, etc. We don't have the unlimited resources like practically any school in Texas seems to have. (Damn that oil money.) And we don't have a talent rich state like Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, or California. What we do have is a hunger for winning football. But passion isn't rated as high as those other things I mentioned. Are we top 10? Maybe. We certainly could be if Heupel can take us to the next level. We were at one time, but years of Dooley, Butch, and numbnuts drug us down.

I'd rather go back to "under the table" envelopes and $100 handshakes.

This pay for play "NIL" is BS!
It's not "Name, Image, Likeness"

I f'ing hate it. It's ruining college sports.

rant over......sorry.
I only want to go back to that system if we have someone who can do it without being stupid about it. Cornbread had to be the most inept cheater ever.

UT is a top 15-20 job as of today imo.

Lose a booster or two, the AD, or President.........things chance quickly when everyone isn't working together for a common goal.
We fans know what happens then..............Look at the past coaches who said NO, and look who was hired.

We all know who the "good" cheaters were. :)

Vols had some real good ones............

Maybe in the NIL landscape given the changes that's wrought re: what constitutes a "good job."

It's absolutely ruining it and there isn't any turning back, I fear. The people with any authority to do anything about the slide see only dollar signs, and whatever is destroyed in their wake is irrelevant so long as money line keep go up.

Is it a top job in CFB? I know we like to think so, but I'm not sure what supports that argument. I think we could be. I just don't think we're there yet.
1000%

We are a top ten program in NiL era. We spend top ten in $$$ and pour into all sports. We spend more than almost anyone in recruiting and top ten in the country on our roster. Any good coach can do very well here.

I get not liking another team but Indiana being “Arkansas level good” is such a baffling take
They're not great like so many are desperately trying to make them. I have said from the beginning that Indiana was good and better than last year, but they are not great. I don't know if Blowhio State is really great. We'll see.

i think the dumbest thing about it is implementation. my six year old is a sharp cookie. he could have gotten this done better
