Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Happy Friday

November 14, 2025: As relationship dynamics evolve, you must be willing to embrace the changes with an open heart and mind. You cannot move forward until you keep pace with the adjustments. Things that used to feel immovable are now in a period of transformation. It will be a time of progression and evolution if you are willing to go with the flow. Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Seems like the quantifiable and inarguable truth of this post would be clear to all...but...nope.

Here is another truth...this fanbase has a very large and very loud group of impatient, ungrateful, ignorant, obnoxious, caustic, destructive idiot a**holes, that are not only stupid, but they are the most dangerous kind of stupid...the kind of arrogant entitled stupidity that destroys everything it touches.

I hope for our sake, those of us with common sense and understanding, that the team is able to win the rest of these games...because the Idiot Margin is going to burn it to the ground if not...I dread it.
They can’t burn anything to the ground bc we don’t have idiots running our university anymore.

Leave it to Tennessee to hear the gun at starting line. Then point the gun at both feet and pull trigger.
When Lane Kiffin became the “dream candidate” in this year’s coaching pool, it was inevitable that we would start hearing Heup’s name connected with some of these jobs. He has practically the same resume and will be an easy sell to fanbases because his offense puts points on the board.

Hopefully, this will end the “hot seat” talk, because the reality of the current coaching landscape is that he’s nowhere near it.

I really think fans need to appreciate where this program is right now. it isn't elite but it's not far off. its not the top job in america, but it is a top job in cfb. our fan base has a certain reputation for being over zealous, and that emotion stirs dollars. all a troll has to do is bait the hook. hell the KNS is the biggest of them.

we fall for it, hook line and sinker.

There’s rumors that big $ is pushing for Heupel to make staff changes, if that’s true, and again it’s just a rumor, I could definitely see him at least hearing out other schools
Let’s all be honest here… If Josh is the guy to win a championship at Tennessee, he should be wanting to make those changes himself and not be pushed into them.

Is it a top job in CFB? I know we like to think so, but I'm not sure what supports that argument. I think we could be. I just don't think we're there yet.

I would. You act like we're the only fanbase with crazy fans. We're not. Every coach faces criticism from their fanbase. Even championship coaches. You think Ryan Day and Kirby Smart don't face criticism from portions of their fanbase? Even Saban had his lunatic fringe fans that criticized every call he made. It's not unique to Tennessee. Every coach faces it.

College coaches are mercenaries. They come and they go. I like Heupel, and I hope he stays, but I'm a Vol for life. Whether he's the coach or not, I'll always cheer for the Vols to WIN. After going through Dooley and Butch and he whose name I will not say, it's very easy for me to separate coach from team. I'll cheer for Heupel for as long as he's OUR coach. If he's not OUR coach, then I have no reason to cheer for him.

Great post. Remember the OSU fans were calling for Ryan Day's head less than 12 months ago in the middle of a national championship season. Given they didn't even show up for a home playoff game that was clearly more than just a fringe part of their fanbase.

November 14, 1970.....
On a rainy hill side in Wayne County, West Virginia, the lives of 75 people were lost in the worst single air tragedy in NCAA sports history. Among the losses were nearly the entire Marshall University football team, coaches, flight crew, numerous fans, and supporters.

Among those killed were former Vol QB Deke Brackett (1931-1933)

So I wouldn’t be surprised if a top 5 team beat them by 2 touchdowns.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we beat a top 5 team either. In the scheme of things, not being surprised means absolutely nothing for you or anyone else. Except all you ever see is the negative side of things. Sorry you have to follow football this way and hope it’s not your mantra in life.

I guess it depends on how you define top, but when you consider the well over 100 FBS programs, yes, Tennessee is unquestionably a top job.

Top 5? No, I don't think so.

Top 10? Very possibly. I'd say so.

Top 15? Indubitably.

Just means new ways to cheat. And the same schools that have always gotten away with bending rules will continue getting away with bending the rules.
I'd rather go back to "under the table" envelopes and $100 handshakes.

This pay for play "NIL" is BS!
It's not "Name, Image, Likeness"

I f'ing hate it. It's ruining college sports.

rant over......sorry.
