I thought Boyd's energy in the fourth quarter was the difference. Glad to win, but really disappointed in a lot of what I saw. Was really happy for Strickland. Great game by her.

I am thrilled for Ace that she got to be the absolute player of the game. That makes my heart happy for her and her family and friends. (Of course, I'm SUPER happy she didn't lead them to a win, though!)

After spending the last couple of days fretting over this game, I can't even be upset we looked so ineffective for much of the game because the level of relief I'm feeling is acting like a natural sedative.

The Lady Vols will play anyone anytime.
It’s enough teams in the SEC playing Junior College teams and putting up meaningless scores and stats.
Meanwhile, Tennessee is playing in-state foes with a great tradition like Belmont.

agreed. she really got lucky with her threes. she is not a three point shooter, but hell she hit em when it counted the most. she needs to play more.

I also remember Coach's presser on what she hopes to achieve in November and December to prepare for SEC play. whether she expected the current lapses - the team does have film to watch

I remember last year that Hollenshead took many games to become accustomed to the style of play. hopefully several others adapt, understand and produce.

Needs more of Robertson’s minutes. Robertson plays hard but not at all well or smart.

So far, Robertson has shown she needs to work on her body control and decision making. She has good energy and hustle, but she's not using it like I expected the veteran player to use it. Hopefully she's just a little nervous and will settle down spon.

But for now, I'd definitely give Boyd some extra minutes. She looked good tonight.

Gotta say I'm worried about some players and Kim. Hope everybody gets it together soon.

Feeling good after watching tonight’s game.
I think there’s two adjustments to the system that would elevate this team to an unguardable level… that’s the mass substitution patterns for four quarters and the full court press.
Often times when we build a good lead… against both NC State by 10 and Belmont by 14 the full-court press is basically how both teams got back into the game.
It’s really not even effective to run this type of press and expect consistent results.
It’s like a football team being up 14-0 and blitzing every single play with their entire front 7… eventually you going to get burned when the team adjusts.
Someone really needs to sit down with Coach Caldwell and tell her this actually makes no sense running this type of full court press and giving up easy baskets that essentially work against your own team.

I don't usually hear a coach say that a player is out for "personal reasons" if it is a disciplinary issue. I understood Coach to say there was no timeline for return, but a slamming door obscured part of her response for me. Was anyone able to hear the full response?
