Exactly. The stadium was rocking. We got them in 2nd and 20, then 3rd and 16. Everyone was on their feet.

First down…..

There were just so many deflating, wtf moments.

Just when the top was about to explode, the team would soil their britches.
I bet Oklahoma was just as shocked as we were that they won.

I've not argued for anything. In most cases I've simply asked questions. Questions that seem to bother people because they know the true answers but dont want to acknowledge them. I've said repeatedly that I'm not for firing Heupel. That doesn't mean I have confidence that he will ever be more than a 9-3 average year on year coach. That seems to be ok with a lot of posters, and that's fine.

As I've said many times, these are always financial decisions. As long as DW has people throwing money at him, he'll be here as long as he wants.
If we go to the playoffs every two to three years and average 9 wins a season then I’m good.

wtf are our fans doing
It started with the vulture Basilio types (bff John Adams!) teaching the baseball fans to hate DW and football. Then another manipulated and sloppy game ignited an idiot contagion on Heupel. All of it gives crazies a chance to vent crazy. And also helps them to suppress what they are struggling to suppress and find distraction from: obvious game manipulation. I throw my hands up. I don’t find the league credible anymore.

Oklahoma needs to stay dedicated to their run game. I don’t think they can beat Alabama, but they could keep it close and give themselves a chance.
To be clear I think Alabama should win but Alabama isn't some great juggernaut this year. OU beat them last year and this years team is much better than they had last year. I just think OU could give Alabama's OL and Ty Simpson fits. Force a couple turnovers like they did with us and who knows. If Alabama plays a clean game they should prevail but I think Oklahoma can make them one dimensional. I also hate Alabama with a passion and will be cheering on Oklahoma so part of me is hoping to speak it into existence.

It is the duty of the fans to bring the heat to the game, it is the team's duty to sustain it. Getting punched repeatedly in the balls by the hottest woman kinda puts you out ot the mood.

Would you say this last loss was more coaching or execution? I agree with you that there have been questionable coaching in many games. And then, there's things like the missed kick at Georgia and the three turnovers this last game.
The missed kick was the final blow to a poorly coached set of downs and a game with a lot of head scratching calls.

The three turnovers were brutal. But, I feel like despite them, we still could have won. We were the better team. We had the better stats.

Too many questionable calls and too little fire. I don’t think he’s apathetic, but he is annoyingly stoic. I want pissed off after the third off sides. I want him screaming for reviews. I want him forcing coaches to the field.

You mean offensive turnovers will do that.

They were 4-10 on 3rd down. Not like some of the other games we’ve had this year.
Yep, defense did their job. A couple of bad decisions on offense, and a couple of very bad/missed calls were the difference in that game. And if the game has been officiated properly we still win it.

But if you don't take care of business and leave the door open you can't blame the refs, that's on us. It is what it is. Let it sting that night but move on.

Last thing we need to do is act like we've got a lame duck fixing this team. He's fine and we'll be fine, very young roster this season

To be clear...that loss came down to turnovers.

OU had 2 drives in the first quarter, both were punts after just 5 plays.

2nd quarter they had 3 total drives, 2 coming after INTs and both times they got the ball inside TN's 35 and each drive they were held to a FG

3rd quarter they had 4 drives total first was 5 plays that ended in a punt, 2nd drive they drove 65 yards and fumbled it we then went 3 and out and punted right back to them for their 3rd drive they marched and scored a TD. 4th and final drive of the 3rd they marched again but got held to another long FG.

4th quarter we got the INT to end their first drive the 2nd drive they got back on our 44 after the onside kick and had the big run up the middle then a TD on the next play. Last drive was after the onside and that was ball game.

If at a minimum we don't hand them 13 points off turnovers that's a win 27 to 20.

But yeah, that drive after the fumble recovery when it was 17-16 and we had the ball on our own 10....game changing that we went 3 and out there and it was 3 straight runs too.

Then the VERY next drive we're down 23-17 and throw the ball 3 straight times...

I agree, he's been getting away with gun-slinging all season, thrown a couple of ducks that shouldn't have been thrown.

I'm not sure how he missed the high safety help on those interceptions. They were both bad decisions.
I think he saw him but made the wrong kind of throw. I agree he was pressing but if you are gonna take that shot it had to have more zip on it. It's ok to try and make that throw if the safety is sucked up but you can not put air under in that situation. We could have used a little more Milton on that one.

40% against is still not real good. And as good as we were at getting off the field in the first half, not so much in the second half. Neither side of the ball lit the world on fire consistently and our special teams continued it's very average play.

“Voltwitter” is a cancer.

It’s a weird, cliquey cast of weirdos and nerds who seem to all try to one up each other with trollish behavior and moronic takes.

Self declare themselves as the best fans in the country - yet have insane expectations, tag and trash the AD about every gripe, dump on players, want to fire Heupel etc.

Just to be clear...I have done the leg work on this.

We get 11 staff members (including HC) that are permitted to recruit on the road
Tim Banks is listed as ONLY the DC now.
Willie is now listed as coaching Secondary (not just CBs).
We added a senior defensive assistant (Alan Williams), unfortunately the website doesn't state what his job is exactly...he could be the person coaching the safeties during games/practice. But as a non staff member he can't recruit on the road.
Many analyst who are honestly better than some coaches on the field:

Marion hobby
Jim chaney
Seth luttrell
Landry Jones

Informal poll:

When the Vols win, I can’t soak up enough Vols content. Listen to the multiple post game pods, after game reports, read all the post game reactions etc

When the Vols lose, I basically pout and don’t listen to or read anything.

Anyone else like this?

I listen to them after a loss but it usually takes me longer in the week to get to them

If that's the case Heupel needs to make the changes and switch things up. Your best coaches on the field gotta be staffers who can help recruit. Not just to get better talent, but also to know their positional players better as well.

For what it's worth...

Joey in 9 games has surpassed Nico's passing yards and TDs through 13 games last season.

If nothing else tip of the hat to coach Heupel for handling that exchange so well. I seriously doubt Nico would be putting up the sort of passing numbers Joey is and I don't know that we'd be 6-3 with Nico on this team.

Also Brazzell leads SEC in yards & TDs
Staley now leads SEC in receptions

all 3 WRs are top 8 in SEC in yards, top 15 in TDs

Bishop leads SEC in yards per carry with 6.7, is 5th in rushing yards, and 3rd in rushing TDs

Joey now leads in almost every major category in passing
completions
attempts
yards
TDs
yards per attempt
yards per game
That maybe true but yards, particularly in today's game, are really almost meaningless. Games are decided by takeaways and short fields. If you are relying on 60 yd tds that is not really the best, one yard tds are where it's at.

Unless we lose o

Unless we lose someone other than Brazzell, we do not need receivers at all from the portal. I’d sure hope we don’t because we have great young talent and in the incoming class and I’d rather play them than lose them,
We shall see! I could see Dodson or Jefferson. But if no one leaves other than Brazzell, they may not!

I don't think Lewis and Beasley are worth keeping. Lewis has no wiggle and can't catch and Beasley can't beat out Turrentine and Farooq.
I think Morris and Bishop easily overtake him and I doubt he wants to keep being third string. Then we can spend on another portal RB like Star.

Maybe this is easier for some since numbers are hard.

2021 I made $100k
2022- 2024 I made $300k

I don’t like 2021 so I made $300k on average for my career.
Again. A dumb comparison. So what if he averages 8.5 wins per year? What does that really mean given what's transpired the last few years? Let me help you. NO. One of the last places we went into as a staff had gone 3-27 the previous 3 years. The first year we were 5-5. The staff did a MUCH better coaching job that year than 2 years later when we were 8-2. You can analyze however you want to. Not sure if anyone is going to change your mind and don't really care if I do. Anyone on here who wants to get rid of Heupel becomes of some arbitrary ceiling or some perceived fatal shortcomings is quite frankly, clueless. Carry on.
