How is this any different than a Butch game?

Define sucks for me? Taking a last minute QB who walked on after getting pushed out for Nico and playing competitive in the SEC and making him look to the max of his abilities seems pretty solid to me.
Competitive? That’s questionable. This year our only SEC wins are against SEC teams with a combined 2-15 record against other SEC teams. Yes, our losses have been relatively close but losses nonetheless. Hopefully Josh will figure something out with his staff and make changes along with eliminating all the lack of discipline penalties.

Heupel is so much better as a leader and person than Butch Jones..

However, his teams have proven to be sloppy with a lot of unforced errors. They don’t win big games. And his teams are guaranteed to drop 1-2 games a year to teams that they should beat.

Lots to fix. Hopefully, he can get it done.

I know this is just an agony thread, but I think there are some differences.
- nothing dumb happened because of analytics
- You have a pretty high performance offense that we didn't expect to have this year. The result seems better than the parts
- Playmakers were in the game playing the right positions
- Players on the line are bigger (I didn't check actual stats on this)
Playmakers were in on the 4th and 1 down only 2 points? Really? Where was Ethan Davis, TE?

Yes we have fine tuning and work to do. Penalties are also a big part of that. But to imply we are not competitive and haven’t been the entire time he has been here is untrue. He made us competitive right off the rip. He needs to continue to grow and adjust as a coach. Something I believe he is doing and is capable of continuing to do.

The guy we’ve coached the least is arguably the best player on the team. Must mean our coaches are amazing!
That is a ridiculous way to look at it lol. He is having the best season of his career under Heupel. He has gotten the most out of every journeyman QB that has walked on this campus and put multiple QBs (and other positions) already in the NFL.

He beat Alabama and made it to the playoffs. He isn’t a liar and lock room cancer. Hope this helps!
Did you see the playoff performance? We didn't belong there, someone else should of had our spot. We won't ever make another one with this coach. He has flamed out. The new wore off and other teams know how to handle him and his style now.

No we will. We had a bad match up against a severely better team talent wise. We match up with anyone else and it is a different story.

We will get back, and we will eventually win a championship with him here. I have zero doubt.

There should be an unlike button because that is just dumb. Butch had one of the most talented rosters in 2015 than we have had since probably 01’. This roster isn’t in the same league as that one
And then Butch went on to the only 8-loss season in program history and was lucky it wasn’t 9 losses. Heupel is considerably better than Butch. Is he THE guy? I don’t know. I’m willing to see what the next couple of years hold though with the talent we have coming in next year and the great experience our young talent got this year. 2026 should be a step forward, especially on D, and 2027 should be at least a playoff spot, hopefully a run or SEC Champ, something. That 2027 schedule is stupid hard though so that’ll be interesting to see. That’s my feeling today, obviously things will happen good and bad to change that over the coming weeks and months.

Do you really think the team performed well last night. That, to me, is the issue. The guys aren’t executing their play, they’re not tackling, it’s as if they don’t know what to do. I get the thought that most were expecting 8-4 or 7-5 or what ever but, most of our losses are not simply the better team won, we played like crap and lost. That’s the aggravating thing about it.

100%. Never denied that brother. We should have played better and that’s twice now a defensive touchdown by the other team shot us down.

My point being is he doesn’t suck as a coach and he still the guy to get us there.

I agree that he can but, he has to be willing to correct some mistakes, whether it’s coaches or players, changes are needed.

Its not any different. This team is about what we saw with Butch. I had hope. But we ALL knew this hire was a stretch at best. 5 years and here we are. Some very dedicated fans dont have another 5 to see a hire deserving of our loyalty. Its a shame.
You can’t be serious- how many active coaches are .500 or better against Bama? Heupel is not perfect but let’s compare to James Franklin who couldn’t beat anyone. Heupel has multiple bowl wins/ top 10 wins and now we are habitually ranked again.
Let’s not get it confused Joey is a better QB than Nico but he was never more talented and the Book on Joey was he will throw bad picks at times.

There are still multiple guys off that team still in the NFL. With that talent Butch Jones couldn’t even get to 10 wins.

So what was Oregon’s excuse? Our top 3 playmakers were all hurt and they took advantage

Im very serious. Heupel is a mid tier coach and his program is mid tier. But if youre happy with these results, good for you. Im not.

lol unfounded sensationalism is always funny after a loss. Define mid? It always being in the top 25 out of 136 (or however many there are now) mid? Is making the playoffs mid? Define mid with some statistical analysis for me please. Otherwise your comments are just more over emotional dribble.

Sucks is when your 5th year coach gets schooled by other less experienced coaches ! It’s a pattern for heupel! Wait and see how he gets out coached my the interim Florida coach in a couple of weeks!

I like Coach Heupel, but stupid mistakes are costing these guys every week. Mistakes killed them at Alabama and last night. Both games were winnable. It doesn’t matter where they were picked to finish. They obviously have the ability to beat these teams, but keep blowing opportunities via stupid mistakes. It’s just disappointing to watch.

Explain the X’s and O’s to me and show me how we were out coached? Break it down for me.

Because it’s not a pattern. Wins and losses happen and we’ve won more under him than anyone else since before my balls dropped brother.
