It’s a different skill for sure. Heupel recruits HS by building a rapport with the kid and the family for 3 years and preaching the family atmosphere.Recruiting at an elite level is a relic of the past. Having enough NIL money and manage a roster is the new norm. He may not be good at that but signing top 20 players has less to do with recruiting ability and more with what your team can offer. We don’t have endless funds contrary to what many fans believe
Dinky doo is not better than Heupel, Elko I need to see more, Sark isn't better either, Lea is a joke at 8-29, DeBoer is at least a debatable pointDrinkwitz beat the holy Hell out of Heupel last time we played. Elko is probably better. Sark is probably better. Lea might be better. DeBoer is better.
Lea has a losing record. Lea has done nothing more than Tennessee has.I'd trade Heupel 1:1 for
Debour
Elko
Lea
In same class as
Drink
Sark
Venables
He's better than
Stoops
Beamer
Lebby
Freeze

Elmo went 8-5 last year.
Debour is a faltering coach who is losing what Saban had despite having the most talent team in the SEC atm.
None of those statements are sure fire realities.
The only coach who is clearly a step above is Smart.

Summed it up very succinctly. We have a good coach. Got us to the CFP last year. Has a good W-L record. Has an exciting-to-watch brand of football. Has made us competitive again. Recruits in the top 15. He inherited a total mess and undoubtably over-achieved his first two years. He's not going anywhere this year, nor should he. But his teams are incredibly undisciplined and inconsistent. Mistake prone at the worst times. Not physical enough when it's most crucial. He's 4-10 against our 3 biggest rivals. He prides loyality above results in his staff. He struggles with clock mgmt. And simply doesn't recruit at a high enough level to be elite. He's good for a top-end 3rd place finish in the SEC or a low-end 8th place finish in the SEC. It is what it is.
