Josh is not the guy

We have the 8th best win percentage in the country since Heupel got here . Did you have those expectations for him when he was hired or did he create the expectations over the course of the last 4 and a half years? Is that mediocre?

I appreciate the wins and bringing us back to mediocrity from a mess. Yes, it’s mediocre. Tell me what great team we’ve bested this year? Heup loses the games he should lose, struggles against the teams he shouldn’t, and struggles nearly every game when it comes to coaching mgmt. clock, play calling, etc.

Last night when a 4th down decided our season he threw to a TE freshmen who had caught two balls this year. Count em 2. Just asinine. He then proceeded to screw up time mgmt…..again abd obviously didn’t know clock running rules of his own game. You pumpers just can’t face reality. He’s a mess.

Once again we’ve benefitted from a soft schedule in comparison and your crowd will be beating your chest about 8 wins in a few weeks when we in fact beat no one.

OU's defense already stuffed Tennessee on 4th and short. It was a great call, poor execution by the freshman.

Yes, the posters in this thread are very dumb. We don't need to go back to the dark days of Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt. Heupel will get Tennessee there.
“Great call” shows your football IQ. It’s like having your season on the line, pulling emmet smith and handing the ball to your 4th RB to get cute and trick everyone. Ridiculous. When the games on the line you put the ball with your playmakers. Not a freshmen responsible for washing jock straps after the game.

If they actually said I want to hire John Sumrall or Kenny Dillingham or someone, fine that’s your opinion. But I don’t see anyone out there that’s better than what we have overall, and I don’t see anyone giving any names bc they don’t have realistic ones .
This season has been very frustrating at times, no doubt about it, but the one thing that no one has me mentioned is that at no point during our losses has anyone quit . We’ve fought the entire game. That has to count for something in terms of the culture of the locker room and how the players feel about their coaches.
“Count for something”. This is the most butch jones thing I’ve seen since he left. No, matter of fact wins are what count in this business.

Bama and OK we played/coached poorly, but he had us in position to beat UGA with an easy field goal. Tonight the turnovers killed us. Too many missed opportunities. Questionable play calling at times, but really it was very bad execution by the players on the field, IMO.
Not time to be competing for a head coach, but I do feel like it’s perfect time to snatch a good coordinator.

Please inform me what division 1 school you have coached at?
You don’t have to coach D1 to realize when the games on the line you lean on your playmakers, not the freshmen who washes the jock straps after each game. I can assure you for 10 mil a year I could not screw up clock mgmt weekly.

Yep. A coach who is going to average over 9 wins per year. Something how many coaches innUT history have done?
You people are real hung up on these numbers. I’m more concerned with what my eyeballs see on Saturday. It hasn’t been good. Sure we will win 8 this year and you’ll be thumping your chest about it.

But out of those 8 not 1 was a “good” win.

Only 3 active HCs have won a championship. Heupel needs to sharpen up the details and have his team better disciplined, but to beat his team it takes multiple unfortunate circumstances to happen. Otherwise he gives his teams an edge to outperform their talent.

This is where im at.......I feel like he schematically and game prep wise always has us in a position to compete with anyone in the country. I like his eye for talent in the recruiting world and I think he promotes a great culture kids wanna come play at and be a part of......also important.

But id like to see quicker in-game adjustments. Penalties were better last night, but still feel we can be undisciplined at times. And his clock and gane style management HAS GOT to improve. It was a long shot, but that last TD drive had almost no urgency. That was horrible and wasteful. I dont know if he needs to hire an analyst or have a sideline person who's sole responsibility is to keep him apprised of game time and situations or what. But that part has to improve.

1 FG away from 8-1 if we didnt shoot ourselves last night........but also an Arkansas and Miss St game away from being 4-5 so 🤷..........ill see how we finish this year and if he loses the team. I also wanna see him with a healthy team and at least a 2nd year QB in the system before I say "Hot seat." Like others said......we could be 1 of 8 to 9 major teams that'll be coach hunting end of season. Ill stick it out another season first.

Hung up on what matters. Your eye balls don’t matter.

You don’t have to coach D1 to realize when you have a guy wide ass open that you should throw him the ball and expect him to catch it

I agree. Complete different argument. He never should’ve been an option to begin with. That ball should’ve went to bishop, brazzell, Mathew’s, Staley, kits- literally anyone besides who it went to.

It matters. You just don’t care. We know you’re a pumper Palmer. It’s okay. You’ll gladly get these losses crammed down your throat and ask for another.

We will win 8-9 with some trash bowl and in your eyes “Tn is back”. You’ll bask in the mediocrity and bash us all for wanting what UT deserves.

Nothing wrong with it. Everyone lives life a little differently buddy.

I’m wrong a lot, but for some reason, this is starting to look like the beginning of the end for Coach Heupel. I love this offense, but our defense is atrocious; one of the worst in the nation. This is Year 5, and UT has yet to beat a team with a winning record this season. They make crippling mistakes on offense, and mind numbing errors on defense. This is not a well coached or well disciplined team. It’s only going to get tougher starting next year with the nine game conference schedule.

It would not surprise me to see this team finish 7–5. What happens then?

And hire who? Anybody going to answer this?
Only Alex Golesh would make sense if he would take the job. I doubt he would however with so many other jobs open. I personally want D White to not give Heupel an option any longer regarding assistants. He needs to upgrade the staff - Banks and most of the rest of defensive staff needs to go for sure (maybe keep DL and LB coaches or promote LB coach to DC). Not sure about offensive side however - they did improve a lot compared to last year and showed willingnes to change the offense so I give them credit for that. However in game management has still been horrible on offensive side when things are not clicking - not sure if this is on Heupel on Halzley but it's a fact that can't be disputed.

He's here as long as Danny White is here.

If/when White leaves, Heupel will either go with him, or be fired by White's replacement after the next mediocre or worse season.
Watch them both go to LSU (both of those jobs are open) and win them NC next year.

You are delusional if you think he will win a SEC or Natty. MAYBE if he actually makes serious changes, actually fires people and benches players for better ones, and is willing to get a few from the transfer portal even if it steps on some peoples toes, he MIGHT get lucky one year and win the SEC. But he won't make those needed changes before he is fired, he is stubborn or lazy, and maybe a little of both.
Josh was trending DOWN at Ucf. I saw it, and Danny SHOULD have seen it, but of course, they were together at UCF. It is obvious that the Players don't ball out for Josh. NEXT year, 9 SEC Games. How many will Josh win THIS year--that have a winning SEC Record? Florida will beat UT at the swamp, and who will be motivated in the Vandy game? A 2 loss Vandy or a 4 loss Tennessee? Hide & watch. Those Outstanding fans and Magnificent NEYLAND deserve the Best. Find another Cignetti! Beat Maryland yesterday by 50. 22 Point favorite. Indy plays every game like that. Consistency = Great Coaching. (I don't care who you play)

They’re not going to pay a $50 million buyout to Heupel to go hire a guy who runs the same stuff as Heupel but with less experience doing it. That would be stupid.

He inherited an undefeated team at UCF. They had nowhere to go but down.
