Did he? Or did Joey just have some brain farts? I doubt the plays were designed to be thrown into double and triple coverageI think Heupel started putting him in situations that were more difficult against the OU defense. First quarter we were taking and working with what OU would give us. Then, Josh decides to start making it more difficult with low percentage success play calls.
Oh yeah, those were definitely on Joey, but they weren’t going to let us throw downfield tonight. When they saw we were set up to, they brought the pressure on Joey and forced bad throws. Needed to nickel and dime them if that’s what they were giving us. Man, I wish we could get pressure on QBs like that.Did he? Or did Joey just have some brain farts? Imagine being born in 1998 and being 4 months old in Jan 1999. You "saw" the championship but have no recollection of it. You grow up a fan, go to UT, the best game you see in Neyland as a student is a tight win against SCJr as you're there for the 2017-2020 football seasons. Yes, you were a student during the 0-8 sec season. Now you're going to games as a graduate, spending your hard-earned money ... and the best game you've attended in Neyland is the 2022 bama game and the last second win against Indiana in Tampa. Oh and you went to the vols first ever playoff game, only to watch the OL rip their shirts off and proceed to crap the field. Was there tonight too for the collapse.f***. I’m 69 and I’ve been a Vol fan for 60+ years. I’ve seen one legit national championship in my lifetime. I’m afraid I’ll never see another

I hate to say it but you could just feel that tonight was the turning point for Heupel. It confirmed for most of us that he’s hit his ceiling. He’s too undisciplined, is not improving on fundamentals like clock management, puckers up with conservative play calling and gives the game away, and gets outschemed (especially in second half). This isn’t the year to move on with so many coaching vacancies, and nobody wants to go back to what we were before. But the tide is turning the wrong way, especially if he doesn’t make some personnel changes, which he’s never done by his own volition.

Why in the world did Heupel decline the holding penalty!!! If he accepts it it takes them out of fg range plus our defense was playing good at that point. I haven’t heard a single person bring this up. Another poor in game decision. Just give them 3 points.Interception and allowing OU to get a FG a before half was a killer.

Because all the A-holes here would have been dogging his ass if we gave up the 3rd down conversionWhy in the world did Heupel decline the holding penalty!!! I’ve said forever…150,000 fans, many who have played a lot of sports, can’t all be wrong and one guy named “coach” be right.10-15 yard range was open all night. They blitzed a linebacker every play and dropped their DBs to prevent the deep pass. We could’ve dinked and doinked down the field all night. You saw it on the last TD drive of the game. Yet, we didn’t take advantage of it. If we can see it at home you’d think Halzle can see that in the box. Especially since he gets paid millions to do so.
Agreed. I’m proud of the defense tonight. I am about tired of seeing QB run for 16 yards on 3rd and long every week tho. I hate to say it but tonight just everything that could go wrong did. Happens sometimes in football. Sure happens to us more than others. Joey worst game of the year. DLine breaks into pieces. They have the best field goal kicking performance ever. The dropped passes continue. Our entire secondary AWOL in one way or another. Thomas out of bounds by an eyelash. It’s all on Rick Barnes now to prevent another miserable Tennessee winter.I feel like the defense played a lot better this week than last and the offensive play calling was pretty good for the most part. This came was solely on the players completing their plays. Kitsleman has a drop, #3 can’t spell his name hit him in the freaking face mask, stayley has a pass bounce off his hands, Aguilar made 2 bad decisions throwing the ball. The 2nd half the online couldn’t pick up blocks minus bishop. Kids a player. We have a pretty good team if they can just put it all together one game. No one was talking all this crap when we should have gotten a field goal against GA to beat them. We just haven’t put together a full game yet. it’s either the defense or the offense that’s clicking. Then if the line is doing good and so is QB, the. You have 19485829 dropped passes. I don’t know what the deal is but yea just my take on it.
I agree. And the play calling overall this year is WAY better than the crap they called with Milton last year. But as soon as the train gets rolling and we could put our opponent away he goes soft. We never do anything after our D causes turnovers, which kills the momentum. He runs 3 times up the middle. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.He was anything but conservative his first couple of years here and I don't remember having problems with the play calling.
He's definitely got away from that.
They were obviously ready for us - they did their homework on our game plan. And Heup couldn't pivot.Oh yeah, those were definitely on Joey, but they weren’t going to let us throw downfield tonight. the play call all but who the pass was to was fine. This was a huge play I would want my best receiver be the one I would throw to
