Josh is not the guy

I don’t disagree. The most frustrating part is prior to 2023 Heupel was not like this. I don’t know what has happened but after that 2022 season he lost his killer mentality that he even had with the prior teams. Maybe Golesh really was the difference maker.
I think Golesh would actually push back against Heupel, and Halzle is just a "yes man".

I also think that the defense was made better by having to practice against Golesh's offense; iron sharpen iron and all.

I’m with you 1000%. I’m sick of Huepel. I’d trade for Kiffin tomorrow and never give it a second guess. Heupel is a loser that accepts mediocrity because that’s all he is as a person and coach, mediocre. Absolutely pathetic.
A guy who left you after one year is not going to be interested in a second stint.

And second stints almost always fail anyway

When Butch got fired I was lobbying on here for Kiffin, he wanted the job too, I was raked across the coals for it. Not such a dumb idea now.

At this point, Heupel hasn't even reached Mark Richt or James Franklin levels of success. I'm not in favor of firing him, but just wanted to call this out.
I doubt he ever will reach Mark Richt, Mark Richt could at least make the SEC championship game and win one. The biggest thing Josh did was get blow out at Ohio State in the CFP. We are Tennessee, we should not accept this crap, Georgia finally got tired of it with Mark Richt not winning a natty, granted that was 15 years but still. Our fans are happy just to beat Kentucky, I'm not.

Tonight was bad on so many levels.

Tried to stay open and positive, but I am closing the door on Hype. I don’t enjoy watching TN football with him at the helm. Even the games we win are clusters/nail biters. His clock management, refusal to make adjustments, ultra conservative style, bone headed play calling at the most inopportune times, lack of killer instinct, inability to get his teams to rise up for big games, and sloppy leadership/appearance have all made it impossible for me to root for him.

Sad, because he seems like a genuinely great guy.

Adding insult to injury - grew up in TN - providence had me in FL where I graduated from UCF. They are my second team. I have watched this play out the same for much longer than his tenure at TN.

He has hit his ceiling. Hope I am wrong, confident that I am not.
Couldn’t have said it better myself

He’s not the right fit for the league. While he’ll have good teams, they won’t be elite. In my opinion, his coaching style isn’t suitable for this league. Additionally, I don’t believe some of the position coaches are qualified for the league due to recurring issues.
Yet he was qualified enough to make the playoffs

Is it? So on 4th and 1 instead of running the Hurry up that has a chance of catching them off gaurd and also what has been dominant for us for years.... you choose to run yet another play action out of the same formation that we threw the pick six on... not exact formation but really close. And you choose to throw it to a freshman that has 2 catches on the season? So the dumb is on us "posters" in a forum?
F
Easy. You’re presenting the pumpers with facts, reason, and years of football history that points to trusting your playmakers. It won’t be well received.

You are delusional if you think he will win a SEC or Natty. MAYBE if he actually makes serious changes, actually fires people and benches players for better ones, and is willing to get a few from the transfer portal even if it steps on some peoples toes, he MIGHT get lucky one year and win the SEC. But he won't make those needed changes before he is fired, he is stubborn or lazy, and maybe a little of both.
Thankfully you don't have the power to Mae that decision

#2 scoring offense nationally under Halze. 3 WRs over 100 yards receiving under Halze. Didn’t happen under Golesh.
