LSU Cans Kelly

Is Josh a viable candidate for any of the openings? I know it's not what a lot of Vols want to even think about, but he's done a really good job here and yet gets significant abuse, at least by many people on this board.

Taking my blinders off, Huepel would be an idiot if he didn’t gauge LSU’s interest if they reached out.

Ohio State runs at a deficit too (so do a lot of major sports programs around the country). If you think for a second that the are having issues getting money into their football program then you aren't paying attention.

Hell, I think even around half of professional teams from every sport run at deficit. It's not especially uncommon.

The main reason why programs are starting run at a deficit is that a lot of the donations that used to go to the school (more specifically the sports programs), are now being funneled into NIL. But the money is still there and they have plenty of wealthy donors. Again, they would not make this move if they couldn't afford it.
A deficit means the money isn’t there. Up is down, left is right. The bubble is going to pop.

I said this might be a good year for Dabo to take another job and your response was “a school will have to pay $60m buyout” which was wrong and a lie. Once proven wrong, “yeah yeah like I said”
Didn't say a school would have to pay that buyout, just that it is his buyout. Nor did I say they would have to pay the $60 mil in my follow up post.

I assumed you meant he gets fired

If he goes anywhere else,I could see him going there. Its a better culture fit than being a northern guy in the bayou which never made any sense.

I could also see him calling it a day after the huge buyout and at his age.
I don't think he'd let himself. Seems like a guy who won't let **** go

I know exactly what a deficit is. Again, plenty of teams are running at a deficit. A lot of professional sports teams run at a deficit or barely break even.

Money is often generated other ways that doesn't get included in the operational budget. This isn't a new phenomena. As the saying goes, it takes money to make money, and the LSU sports program isn't getting out of their deficit issues by running out sub par sports programs.

He has a duty to mitigate.

I don't think his ego will allow him to not coach.

He may not coach right away. Although, he will have his pick of quality schools. He has proven he can get you 9 wins or more with consistency

He's 64, so I can't imagine he will go somewhere that isn't a big school with a history of success and the opportunity to compete right away. Michigan State would make a lot of sense for him. UCLA might make some sense as well depending on how what their funding situation looks like. Maybe Wisconsin if they fire Fickell. He would likely be a huge upgrade for FSU as well.

You generate it from the children’s hospital. How many children’s hospitals does Louisiana have to fund LSU’s NIL?

Arch was gonna bust with or without him. He’s not as good as the rest of the Mannings.

I get it. I love Peyton. You love Peyton. Everybody loves Peyton.

That doesn’t mean we gotta defend or stick up for poor Arch “let’s flex our muscles when we beat hapless G5 schools” Manning. The kid kind of sucks at throwing a football accurately.
I believe he's colorblind

I have literally said all year that Dabo no longer coaches at Clemson when he decides, not the school. The idea that Clemson will fire Dabo is lunacy. Also my post literally said this could be a good year for Dabo to get a fresh start. Literally zilch about him getting fired.

This is one of three jobs that would concern me with Heupel. Not saying he will leave or has any interest, but it would make a ton of sense for LSU to give him a call.

If you can't even admit that it's super common for elite programs to operate at a deficit, then there is no more reason to argue with you.

LSU consistently has an elite NIL fund. By pretty much every account, they are a top 5 program in NIL. But somehow, they don't have any money.....

I put it at 10% chance. But the fact he did what Elko did and went into Death Valley, blew them out, and fans somewhat took over the stadium, yikes.

Sorry I don’t follow all your posts.

Anyone is fireablenin this age of college football.

Anyone that believes that a school that is willing to pay a coach 50+ million to not coach for them all of a sudden has deep money issues simply isn't paying attention.

LSU would fire Woodward and roll out Kelly another couple of years if they thought for a second that they couldn't drum up the money to fire Kelly and go get another elite coach.

For LSU it would take a ton of sense. Proven SEC winner, incredible offense, very good recruiter that would get a boost with Louisiana and NIL. Could probably tell yourself that your resources garner more defensive talent which fixes the main concern.

But the fact Heupel is never, ever EVER tied to these jobs makes me believe he loves being at UT.
