FSU didn't pay Jimbo a dime buyout. A&M gave FSU a few million to hire him.

Seminoles got in trouble after the person they hired-I think it was Willie Taggert-bombed and they had to fire him in year 2 or something and pay a massive buyout.

They have been struggling since then.

It’s almost scary for currently entrenched coaches not named Kirby, Ryan Day, Dabo, Deboer…..

I kid you not, there are going to be so many openings there won’t be enough homerun hires to be found at current jobs considered a step up. One of these schools are gonna make some run at an established coach with an asinine contract offer.

Well it looks like Stoops is going to win 7 games over two seasons. If they are ok with that then they could probably find someone who can achieve it for less than $9 million a year. They will have paid him $18 million dollars for 7 wins. It isn't in the neighborhood of crazy to replace him.

I’ll be honest, this may be the perfect opportunity for someone like Dabo to get a fresh start. Just enough big school openings and not enough high level / homerun hires to be had. Especially if Auburn cans Freeze.

Also Matt Campbell has to cash in and move on from Iowa State.

I'm not Brian Kelly fan at all, but I just don't understand why you would fire him now. They are paying 54 million plus anyone better than Kelly is going to have a huge buyout to cover at their current employer. Who are they targeting? Indiana just locked up their coach. Majority of these schools are going to spend a ton of money to end up exactly where they are or worse...may even go bankrupt.

The problem is the vocal fans. Its a crazy world but suppose they keep him and the fans chanting Fire Kelly for 3 straight games. Your recruits on visits are not going to commit save the one or two that might be lifelong fans of your school. So by keeping the guy you temporarily save the buyout but with crummy recruiting classes you only make it more impossible to climb out of the hole.

I am shocked they did it after this game. I assumed they would wait till one more loss then bust him.
