What QB do you want from the transfer portal next year?

yes because that UCLA team was just as talented and comparable to the type of roster and team we have. And even the coaches aren’t as good as ours.

I for one can’t fathom why Nico would have poor performance on the road vs Indiana with an interim staff and a roster like UCLA’s 😂😂😂😂
Dude Nico sucks

I’d take Nico back if Jerry Neuhiesel came with him. Call me crazy but if Heupel isn’t ready to rock with Merk / GMac next year and wants the starter to come via the portal, go talk to Nico.

The one thing Heupel thrives on is having a QB for multiple seasons. I think it’s clear Nico is gonna play 2 more years.

Obviously Big Nick needs to be told he can’t be involved with any negotiations or talks. That would be my one demand from the Tennessee side. Nico definitely isn’t getting that money back from us so we’d have leverage on a very low number.
Please put away the crack pipe.

Why? This is professional sports now. Nico lost his payday. We are losing a QB will have to break in a new starter that is likely a freshman or redshirt freshman.

We also need to overhaul the OC position as well.

Nico lost a very sweet package here and knows Heupel’s system.

It’s simple. Offer him a cheaper deal than he had and more than what he has now and tell his dad to kick rocks and GTFO.

I’m personally over the idea of recruiting quarterbacks and developing them in this new era of football. Go find a mercenary QB with multiple years of eligibility and make a business decision.

Probably none but I wouldn’t recruit high school qbs anymore. Brandon would be the last one I recruit. No reason to gamble on one that might be a bust anyway. Pay for the proven commodity.
I said the same thing a few weeks ago.
Look for a QB at another school with experience, spend your NIL there and roll with that.
Joey and Pavia shows it can be done

Gross 🤢

He looked like trash today. I'd rather roll with Fazion than welcome that bum back to Knoxville.

Ah yes because a UCLA squad on the road against the #2 team with an interim stripped down staff and roster after a firing is totally comparable to the depth and talent Heupel has built at Tennessee.

Nico just lost by 50 to Indiana. They beat a few bad teams and he looked decent. Just like last year’s peak. The guy isn’t good

I don't care. He's not that good. He tried to leverage us. Why would you want a cancer back?

not only that, some of his teammates would be some that he walked out on.
he's cancer at this point and not worth it
if TN brought Nico back, I won't watch a game. I'd go fishing, golfing or some other activity.

Because he had success here, knows the system, lost a big sweetheart deal and we literally have all the leverage.

It also doesn’t hurt we need a QB next year.

I’m just gonna go out on a limb and say most here are refusing to acknowledge that college football is a professional sport now and roster moves are strictly a business decision. I can think of a million reasons why a team needing to replace their quarterback would see value in an experienced QB that has zero negotiating leverage and wants to improve their position.

Pretty safe that many on here don’t actually run a business or make business decisions

Might not be as crazy as it sounds.
I would like to see the Vols bring in some alpha males for the defense. Some stud D-linemen, Linebackers, DBs. Some guys with attitude. You can always find a QB if you need one. You look at Bama, Missouri and look at their defense. There is a ton of difference in them and Tennessee.

Aguilar lost by 46 to Clemson and 25 to Marshall last year. I can’t believe we entertained him transferring here.
If only there were some way to see how Nico would look in a Josh Heupel offense.

And lol at comparing an Appalachian State loss to a playoff team to a blowout loss to a conference opponent that isn’t exactly crawling with 5 stars

A smart business decision is not letting people who tried to **** you over back into your building.

Nico tried to negotiate his current deal and we said no. He then pouted about it and looked elsewhere for greener pastures. Turns out there wasn’t one. Still doesn’t change the face we need to replace our quarterback and having an experienced QB with a minimal learning curve who has zero negotiating power might be worth looking at. Once again, tell me you don’t make business decisions without telling me
