What QB do you want from the transfer portal next year?

Are you suggesting 5/12 is a good ratio especially when it's all touchdowns?
Of course... really it is more like 4/11 because 1 of their failed 7 drives resulted in a defensive touchdown.

I have zero issues if we are only allowing 4-5 scoring drives to opponents considering our offense averages close to 40 in the SEC

Ah yes because a UCLA squad on the road against the #2 team with an interim stripped down staff and roster after a firing is totally comparable to the depth and talent Heupel has built at Tennessee.
You’re beat brother. Just throw in the towel and don’t risk permanent damage

I want 2 things and we can have them both. 1st-Keep Merk and Mac, work a 2 QB system whereas each one of them works with a set of receivers because 2nd-we will have enough GREAT receivers to do this! We could literally run DBs and safetys into the ground!

Also, seems like Hype is building the Oline to do this already. We could EASILY have 9 starting caliber lineman next year!

We're not running a 2QB system with different WR personal catered to that QB. Nobody does that.
You're only gonna see another QB come in to run the ball for a first down but seeing how TN has plenty of good backs that's not even needed

"We'll never be a 10 win team again"
"Heupel"s offense won't work in the SEC"
"Heupel will never have a good defense"
"We'll can't beat Alabama"
"Heupel won't adjust his offense"

Never say never, the old ideas about what can and should work in football is ever evolving. Those that dont create the evolution are doomed to be owned by it!
(E.G. Dabo, Kelly, etc!)

Some kid from the Big 12 or group of five whom I haven't heard of yet.

Edit: My preference, though, would be to ride with who we got (I think GMac is the guy) and spread qb1 money between the best corner and ballhawking safety we can find.

That’s what people said about Merklinger leading into this season, had that happened we would probably be 4-4 at best.

Never.

I’d take Nico back if Jerry Neuhiesel came with him. Call me crazy but if Heupel isn’t ready to rock with Merk / GMac next year and wants the starter to come via the portal, go talk to Nico.

The one thing Heupel thrives on is having a QB for multiple seasons. I think it’s clear Nico is gonna play 2 more years.

Obviously Big Nick needs to be told he can’t be involved with any negotiations or talks. That would be my one demand from the Tennessee side. Nico definitely isn’t getting that money back from us so we’d have leverage on a very low number.
Nico is nowhere close to the qb JA is. Nico is not sec caliber qb

I hope Merk stays and we have a true race for QB1 with all 3. I doubt we are going to find anyone better than Merk in the portal that is willing to be a backup potentially. I feel like GMAC might win it.
On what little playing time from Merk and Mac, Mac has actually looked much better.
