Never thought i would be alive to see 3 UT programs reach the top and crumble. smfhFor you danny dollar water carriers - those that keep receipts.
Here’s one for you - when the dust settles before next season (2026) both Elander and Frank will be gone. I suspect Frank will retire and had Tony V’s departure followed the normal track at the close of season, Elander would have probably gotten a head coaching gig at some other program. Elander and Frank are far too attached to Tony V for Danny dollar to allow them to remain here and the new hire will bring in his own staff.
You just can’t replicate what Tony V did here - it was a Herculean lift.
TN baseball fans and casuals have had the opportunity to see Tony V take TN baseball to the Mount Everest of college baseball - but stick around because you are getting ready to see it crumble into obscurity.
But DW has now turned up the pressure for himself for football to succeed or else...a lot of people are going to be upset with him over losing TV...now if football starts to slip, he'll be inching closer to his way out the door. Thats what I'm getting at. Everyone has been happy so far because we have been super competitive in all the major sports for the last few years but now he's lost a NC winning coach. Barnes isnt getting younger and JH is continuing to show he cant win big games away from home, and the football team is in danger of potentially free falling from here out and going 8-4, possibly even 7-5. If that happens, things will quickly begin to heat up for Mr. White. This is a baseball hire, not football or basketball. No AD at any school will be made or broken by a baseball hire.
As long as he's at or near the highest paid AD in the country, he's going nowhere.

There’s zero reason why Tennessee should take a significant step back moving forward, but White will need to approach this situation with delicate hands — something he didn’t often do in his interactions with Vitello. While Tony aspired to be an MLB manager, his relationship with White most certainly played a part as well, given this move and his past flirtations with Texas A&M the past two summers.
No way in hell I believe he flirted with that cult. That would be a backwards move. From D1 Baseball.....

To a guy that has experience managing people, Danny said a lot yesterday... and it was concerning. You’re unfortunately wasting your breath/text. Our fanbase has basically been divided into two factions, Team Tony and Team Danny and Team Danny does not think our athletic director had any role to play in the decision despite what some national reporters have said to contradict it.
If football starts to slip, he'd be inching closer to his way out the door even if he and TV loved each other and TV won 3 CWSs in a row.But DW has now turned up the pressure for himself for football to succeed or else...a lot of people are going to be upset with him over losing TV...now if football starts to slip, he'll be inching closer to his way out the door. I feel like there is a lot of broad-stroke painting on both sides of the argument. It’s what the childish necks in this fanbase do. They self destruct. And they might just run off the primary reason that UT athletics are going through its most successful period in history. All because they never learned how to deal with their emotions in an adult manner.
No doubt, but not as fast as he will now. Everything is amplified now because alot of people arent happy with him over how he's managed this situation and looking like a complete moron yesterday. If football starts to slip, he'd be inching closer to his way out the door even if he and TV loved each other and TV won 3 CWSs in a row.
Yeah he would. As much as TV meant to people here, no AD is going to face serious heat because of what happens with baseball. It just isn't a financial needle-mover.No doubt, but not as fast as he will now. Like DW or not JH was a really good hire. They went after the big dogs no one would take at any reasonable offer. Just look at the previous 4 hires . We're still in the playoff hunt after loosing our QB at the end of spring. I think TV was the best coach we've had in many years but he chose to move on. Highest paid coach given the opportunity to renew the stadium with his input. Moved on to the MLB that was his choice. But DW has now turned up the pressure for himself for football to succeed or else...a lot of people are going to be upset with him over losing TV...now if football starts to slip, he'll be inching closer to his way out the door. Where in that post did I state, "baseball is a needle mover when it comes to money"You did. You said DW has "turned up the pressure for himself, " and that he'll inch towards the door faster if football slips, based on what happened yesterday.
DW is under no more or no less pressure to deliver in football today than he was before TV left.
It may be stated in here, but since we made him the highest paid coach in college baseball, spent over 100 million on improving the stadium, and clearly have solid NIL funds for baseball (or we aren't signing top classes every year) what exactly weren't we doing for baseball?
I guess this makes me "team Danny", even though I wanted Tony to stay, but I would just like something concrete showing what we supposedly weren't doing to keep TV. I just assume Tony left because it's the major leagues and San Francisco is probably a top 10 MLB job.
What? I made the statement about baseball.Where in that post did I state, "baseball is a needle mover when it comes to money"
And your last statement is simply your opinion.
You said baseball doesn't move the needle money wise. I replied with no one is claiming that it does. And you responded by saying i did say that. Never did. What? I made the statement about baseball.
I was initially responding to you saying that now that Tony is gone, DW will move even faster towards the hot seat if football starts to slip. My point is that Tony leaving has no bearing on how fast DW moves towards the hot seat if football begins to slip.
