Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

top 5? you are insane. South Carolina won back to back titles before their coach left and they aren't **** now with a lot more storied history than us.

I think as it sits right now with the talent on the team and the momentum it’s a top 5 job. I agree that it could go back to being a bottom feeder again if the right hire isn’t made.

Lots of good coaches will be interested in the job but you need to give Elander a shot first if he wants it.
Yep. But Elander hasnt even been approached yet. Which is concerning, because Danny has known for over a week it was probably heading this route. He just thought Tony would end up staying. They need to hire Elander fast, so this doesnt get out of hand and causes us to lose a ton of players.

Not sure how many people can say this but at 59 yrs old I have never to this day ever watched a complete game of MLB. In my opinion it’s slow and BORING! I had also never watched a college baseball game I guess I figured it was just like MLB. I don’t really even watch pro sports in general it’s our VOLS or nothing.

In 2021 I heard about this guy called CTV and how much he and his team was hated because of their attitude. I started watching and was intrigued. I kept watching and began to enjoy the basevols.

Long story short is CTV basically introduced this old man to college baseball and I think him for that but I cannot promise that I will continue to watch. I will give Elander or whomever the new coach is a chance but it will never be the same.

Over time the reason will come out why he left. If it was just him wanting to go to the MLB then so be it. If it’s another reason (like discussed on her already) then DW is might want to look elsewhere for his future employment.

Thanks CTV and good luck to you!!!

Looks like we have two choices here , Frank or Erlander , who else is gonna leave a top college program to come here in the middle of fall practice , I personally think Tony’s making a mistake since his strengths are talent evaluation and recruiting , neither of which helps in the Majors , I know we’re sure gonna miss his personality and charisma
I think I make the same mistake all day, honestly. How can you not go to the bigs? Especially if you've already won it all here. What else does he have to prove at the NCAA level?

That he can potentially do it again and again is great for us, I mean sure who wouldn't love a dynasty. But I genuinely believe that revenue considerations aside, he had a thing he's done, succeeded at the absolute highest level at, and loved in one hand, and in the other a thing he's never done and might not have even dreamt at one point he would have the opportunity to do.

It's clearly not about the paycheck. He took a loss there. How many times does this opportunity knock?

Just to help prepare you for the future... I'm way older and can no longer read long posts. Life's too short

Chris Burke just said on the D1 Baseball reaction show that “There is just no way this was exclusively about the opportunity with the Giants.”

Kendall Rogers agreed with him and then said he heard similar things.

But I guess all the Danny White defenders will just brush them off as not real sources.

LSU is one of the only teams in the country that turns a profit off of baseball. They would pay to keep Johnson I think. But there are good coaches out there who would jump at the opportunity, especially from out of the league who wants an opportunity to coach in the league. SEC baseball is miles ahead of the rest of the country in every facet.
Just leave Ronald Fanning alone!

If Tony truly could not stand working with DW, he would have gone in the last couple years to another SEC or D1 coaching job. If Tony could not stand to work with Danny anymore and wanted out, this would have been announced Sunday, and he wouldn't have had two practices and a scrimmage.

This only happened because the Giants are offering a once in a lifetime opportunity. Even if all the hens are being let out of the coop on Tony and Danny's relationship and it played a small part, Tony was going to take this job period.
