Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

Some really lucky college team will get a really good coach in about three years. That is about the time limit for Tony and the Giants to part ways. The only way it will be different if the Giants start shelling out more than 47 percent of their profits for players. The Dodgers shell out 73 percent and several other teams are over 60. Good luck to him and let's not lose hope until we get the full picture of the future situation.
There’s a non zero chance we’re so bad we’d just hire him back.

This sucks but please don’t go full Kiffin meltdown on this one. A lot of eyes on the program right now. Promote Elander and let’s roll.
Exactly. This is disappointing, but not a good reason to melt down. He reached the mountaintop here and was given a (presumably) dream opportunity to move on to.

It will suck if he ends up back in the SEC, but you can’t fault him for wanting to take this opportunity.

What's this have to do with anything I said?
CTV is a VFL who left for a MLB job. So by your logic, does every player who left for the NFL, NBA, or MLB before graduation not a VFL? It was no “F U” as you stated. The job was offered on Sat and he struggled with the decision until today. CTV was torn only because he loves TN and Knox and his team.

I’m not mad at Tony, it’s his life after all, but this is the wrong decision imo. He had it made here and I’m positive the AD would’ve eventually came around and worked out everything he wanted. He already had top classes coming in so I am a little confused about the NIL thing. Plus the stadium being designed to his liking, he would’ve become a hof legend here. I’m sad and definitely taking a long break from college sports. I’m sick of going through emotional anguish lol.

Can someone ELI5 as to why this is Danny White’s fault? Heavy investments were made and continue to be made in the program, and he openly touts that we are an “everything” school. Why would he be hold resentment towards Vitello in this scenario?

Also, cannot blame TV at all for taking the opportunity. It’s a once in a lifetime thing and you’d always ask yourself why you didn’t take a shot at it.

As I stated earlier on in one of the TV threads, it is crucial that Danny White gets in front of the media and fans soon and details a contingency plan. He’s had days to come up with something, and if he was forward-thinking, he’s been planning on this for a while.

I’m not backing Danny in this. I’m just not. It’s clear he views Tony is a nuisance and is happy to have him gone.

Anyone close to the program will tell you its true.

I've heard it directly from two of the staff. People can deny it all they want, but the two sides did not like each other. The relationship was at best very frosty.

I don't even know what to say. The fact it got to this is just heartbreaking.

First, it’s baseball, it has less eyes on it than women’s basketball does! 2nd, not DW’s fault Tony is making a dumb decision! In 3 or less years Tony will be right back to college baseball, and I hope the program that does hire him doesn’t have the resources that TN has POURED into the baseball program. Also at that point other coaches can use his failing in recruiting, so the shine wears off. Either way, DW still is going to pour money into this program that eve at the upper echelon has LOST millions of dollars with it. If Elander has learned anything from Tony on recruiting he will also do just as well here. Heck Tony’s in game decisions a lot of times were stupid, he got by on out talenting people, it’s why they have a ton of guys drafted. Tony was not a head coach prior to coming here, money was poured into the program and it took off. You can say that is Tony, you can say that is the money TN decided to pour into the program. You cannot though say Elander can’t do the same. In the end the baseball team will be fine and Tony will fail and look like an idiot in the process. No way I’d want my ego to take a hit like that, but I guess my ego isn’t as big as his to know that I can’t fail.

Really disappointed in him dragging this out and not being upfront after what this fanbase has done for him. We are yet again left in the lurch and a national laughing stock. Can't really thank him or wish him well for that.
Agree. For CTV to say “you are a vol for life you are not” guess he is not. Adios.
