Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

Wait. So as of Sunday there was nothing from SF and then today you said you weren’t sure if there was anything from SF either. So that makes me wonder: is there even anything from SF’s side? Could all of this smokescreen to improve the necessary resources for the program? Probably too conspiratorial, but it does make one wonder 🤔
Deal paperwork takes time even after terms are agreed. It takes longer when the world’s best agent is fighting for you.

I don’t know, man, I almost read it like SF never really offered anything official. He says in the post that we offered some things but SF never did as of Sunday. And that he didn’t know if it’s a LOA on paper or what from SF.

He’s been offered the job.

Highly successful people often have egos. That’s true of DW and TV. They also both understand that they can’t succeed without taking care of each other’s needs.
And DW's ego knows the hit it could take if TV leaves...... conversely the stroke it would get if he successfully "beats out" a professional team to retain his services.

Well damn. Guess that means they’re reviewing both offers…

Will not be on DW; you can bet the entire brain trust established our best and final offer. Now up to TV to make an evidently tough decision between the two different worlds.

This. I refuse to believe that DW and company just let him walk without fighting for him. In the end, I think it all comes down to whether or not he wants to be in the MLB. And regardless of what Basilio and his morons say, I will choose to believe that this was ultimately Tony’s decision and not because of Danny White.

To be clear, money gets players. His biggest concern revolves around that. Mechanically he wants to be on equal footing with the other top programs. This has nothing to do with an ax he wants to grind with women’s basketball. The net effect of what Arky did got them more NIL. How we get on equal footing isn’t his concern. He just doesn’t want to play poker with no chips.

Was offered the job by SF, but with no details worked out? I thought he didn't have an offer letter from SF even on Sunday.
i gotta let go of this thread for the day. He got an offer Saturday. As of Sunday he did not have a term sheet. That usually means they’re still negotiating. When you get your fist mlb offer, I’ll get more involved.

I’m not trying to drop clues because I know the outcome. I’m sharing what I do know because I don’t know the outcome. I’m encouraged that it’s dragging out, but that’s no guarantee.

For some context, A Letter of Agreement (LOA) is simply a “quick and dirty” doc to outline basic terms of a contract while the more formal, detailed contract is being drafted by legal at the direction of senior execs. Sexton will then push for more concessions from both UT and the Giants to get CTV ultimately the best deal possible.
These things take time as there’s a lot of back and forth between all 3 parties. CTV would be considering the Giants even if he and DW were best buddies.

Also wonder how much that was Bochy, he did win one with Texas after. Dude's a definite HOF Manager.
they had VERY mediocre teams throughout that entire run. Definite managerial skills. But they also beat the Rangers, Tigers, and Royals. Three of the most cupcake and lackluster Series matchups in recent past.

I say mediocre - their lineup was mid. They had one of the best rotations and bullpens you could ask for during that run.

Don’t go! We need the nugs! (Or at least return if you get some more news!)

But seriously, we appreciate the insight!

Also, the fact that CTv’s concerns “were known but not addressed before Sunday“ is a concern. Once Boyd and Plowman got involved, it’s likely a good portion if not all of those concerns have been addressed. I THINK CTV stays but this is obviously an educated GUESS. He was born to coach college baseball.

If nothing else, I hope that Donde and Randy have at least spent an hour or two cussing ADDW up and down their offices

If Tony takes the SF job
He better hope they loosen up the purse strings. This year they are 12th in payroll

Dodgers - $240,412,861.

Giants - $140,559,523

How the heck do they compete with those numbers?
Giants are a big market team. They can afford to have a $300 million dollar roster..
