Don’t jump off the bridge yet. Elander would most likely get the nod as the new coach and he’d get at least one year to prove his worth to the roster as I doubt many would transfer out and sit next season.

These responses show that you folks do not know what you have in Tony Vitello. You are sadly, clueless. The loss of Tony would be immeasurable.

I’d hate to make this a baseball versus lad’s basketball thing, but some of you seem intent on going that way. No offense, but very few care anymore. The overwhelming number of fans are proud of the history, but have been to fewer Lady Vol games than you can count on one hand. Tony is the only generational coach on that campus (Barnes, arguably a case). Look at the cost of baseball tickets versus lady Vols. I don’t have those figures, but I can just about bet you which ones the harder ticket. That will end the moment Tony walks out the door. What other coach can you say that for?

Looking at this as revenue sport stuff is just missing the point. Tony’s value transcends ticket sales. You literally have the Nick Saban of college baseball on your campus and don’t realize it. Danny White ought to be polishing his cleats.

Wth are you talking about? I’m a huge Vitello fan, I was just talking about the poster’s opinion on women’s basketball. Vitello needs to be here, I’m not denying that at all.

He’s the best chance at getting another natty across all UT sports. Barnes might be able to make a run with his roster this year but it ain’t happening anytime soon in foosball. Gotta keep TV at all costs.

By all accounts White F’d that up. I just don’t think the fan base wants to hear another UTAD self imploded story. It can’t be true. Oh, the Giants just appeared and swept in and took our Coach. What were we to do.

These things don’t happen that way. A coach has to be open to listening, and more than listening for these things to take shape. This is every bit of the failure of Danny to understand how and what he has with Tony. We seem to have a good number of fans who can’t figure that out either. Nick Saban didn’t have to deal with such BS, and Tony is every bit that guy for UT. Like Saban, Tony could care less about Danny’s corporate world. Tony regularly appears on a local call in show that routinely roasts White. You don’t think that’s a problem, for an administrator that wants all public appearances and interviews filtered through their machine? Ha, guess again.

Tony isn’t just a coach, he’s a friggin rock star, and he’s one that will drink a beer with the lowest level fan, and turn around and jump on a private jet to go to an MMA fight with billionaires. Zero pretentiousness, but the ability to show up at celebrity events and blend right in.

Danny White couldn’t even get a football coach hired without taking his previous guy. Danny’s gone all in on Kim Caldwell, and yes, to the detriment of baseball. He’s over played his hand. Vol fans have gotten a taste of dominance (not success) in baseball, and they like it. He’s going to look like a fool with a brand new baseball stadium and donors dropping like flies.

Do you want to know what a down year looks like for baseball? Last year. That’s it. That’s the floor. These friggin goobers on this page don’t have a damn clue what’s going on.

Look at Texas A&M. Its fools gold to think Elander would come close to doing what Tony has done.

None of this is proven and heard off hand from inconsistent sources. Put the pitchfork down until a reliable source actually comments on this.

That’s not what was inferred. The post inferred that it was essentially all UT’s fault, and that we create this. Every other school has had great coaches look at other opportunities.
