I really wish posters who post as if they were in a position to inform learned the difference between NIL and revenue sharing. If you knew who was funding baseball NIL you would understand why money isn't an issue. The issue that Tony made a public stink about, and what people are now throwing up to have someone to blame for their perceived wronging, was the proportion of the revenue sharing that baseball received vs. the other teams on campus. Baseball is sharing from a pool including Lady Softball and all the other sports on campus besides the big 3. I get that that's frustrating and Tony has every right to be mad about it, but it's also in line with what every other SEC team is agreeing to. So he's not being put at a disadvantage, as you can clearly see from recruiting/portal.
I think everyone is making too big of a stink about that. If Tony leaves it will not be because he didn't feel like he was given enough to win championships. He's leaving bc of all the entitled players that threaten to transfer any time they dont get their way. They whine all the time and he is getting tired of it. Similar to how Saban felt.
My bad... but no, he's leaving bc he's tired of all the players threatening to transfer everytime they dont get their way. He's fed up with all the entitlement. Like I said last night when someone first posted the AP stuff. That means he’s almost definitely gone. AP is the most wish washy guy to cover the Vols. I really don’t understand why people give him so much clout.AP only said he leaned towards CTV staying but hasn’t heard anything. It was basically a guess. AP clarified that after folks went to X…reporting it as fact.
Sports Talk J (YouTube) had an intersting & rather pointed take on this & other SEC fan bases that are in angst. If CTV bolts for San Fransicko, I'm pretty much done. It’s 1am Eastern, and no credible national sports writer has gone with the “he’s gone” story that Bob the Builder poster earlier which tells me he is just guessing and hoping he’s right.
From a media perspective, here’s the time frame tomorrow. If he’s gone look for Giants to announce 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. PT. That’s 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. ET, right in the middle of the national sports news window. It would ensure coverage hits East Coast outlets before business hours end and still gives West Coast media time to file stories. That would mean Tony (as man of his word) will tell his team first, so look for any reports of a team meeting from 11am-1pm ET.
I've avoided this discussion because it has all the trappings of months of yousaidism. I'll share a couple of things. TV, DW others were still working on this last night at 11pm. There were some (meaningful) personality conflicts and misaligned priorities in the program. We were too cocky and didn't think he'd really leave, or that a big MLB program would take him. We were wrong. In fairness, TV is obviously a big ego too. He has some big asks of the program not related to his salary etc., and he expressed those to donors away from the AD. There is indeed real friction. They've been working it through for days. I shared this Summer that the highest risk of losing TV was to MLB not other college programs. I cited the Cardinals and other programs interviewing him, and was mauled for being unrealistic and told he'd never go to the pros. We need to admit that he is seen as a master program manager, and identifier of coaching and player talent. He is not like other college coaches. He's something much more substantial and he's worth the risk of betting on an unknown in the MLB. If something is done this morning, it happened after midnight. As of 11pm EDT, his agents, our side etc were trying to solve it. Bay Area Bob does not have a scoop. He's guessing. Right now the Giants think they'll get him and DW and AD believe we'll keep him. It probably will not go past 5 today. I am much more optimistic than I was on Saturday when most thought it was a done deal. Last night, we were still in it and fighting hard.Like I said last night when someone first posted the AP stuff. That means he’s almost definitely gone. No team meeting. Giants job is a trash job. Tony knows he would be miserable as mlb manager. It’s 1am Eastern, and no credible national sports writer has gone with the “he’s gone” story that Bob the Builder poster earlier which tells me he is just guessing and hoping he’s right.

You’re literally the only insider I trust. I’ve been with you since the Grumor days when we lambasted that troll MIT Beaver. If you say we’re still in this and you say we’re fighting hard and you say we have a shot, then I’m going to be optimistic! I am not a believer that Tony wants to leave nor do I believer that Danny White is just gonna let him because of his ego. Neither man has shown they’re willing to let their egos get in the way of business decisions. I disagree. Caldwell put a very enjoyable product on the court. I watched more Lady Vols basketball in Kim’s first season than the Warlick and Harper years combined.I really don't care about the softball team or the women's basketball team. Softball is watchable but God women's basketball is rough.
