I don’t know how Danny can be greedy in this scenario. Is he lining his own pockets making decisions that aren’t in the best interest of the university and its athletic programs? The success of the various programs would indicate not.

People dont wanna believe Tony may want to leave for a better job....so they gotta blame someone at UT for him leaving

It’s one thing to take a job. It’s another to have your AD get under your skin to the point that you open the channels to taking calls. Or, to opening your mind to entertaining feelers. This idea that college colleges see themselves as something less, and are all sitting by the phone like a school girl waiting for the cute boy to call, is just utter nonsense.

I appreciate the position that some see this as an opportunity, but I think you are missing how these opportunities materialize.

Ive heard tremendous things about him from people who know him. If it is him, I hope he didn’t take the dickey comments too personally.

Every comment I’ve made in this thread has been out of admiration for our sports programs and its athletes and a desire to do my part in public damage control of the media shite storm created.

No one person is bigger than the T. That includes Dickey, and yes TV (as much as I appreciate and love them both for who they’ve been to the university).

Have a hard believing you can’t transfer before a semester in the wake of the head coach leaving the program. I’m trying to find the definitive rule but even the AA rules pages are confusing at best.

Head in the sand denial. The tensions mentioned aren’t new. It maybe new to your ears, but your being naive because you don’t want such things to be true about your AD. Fingers in the ears saying “La,la,la.”

I heard about Danny’s view of Tony only months after getting here. Tony does not toe the company line and the fact that he’s the most successful doesn’t endear him to Danny.

Better? Is it better? By what standard? Pay?
Melvin made $4 million and was in the top 9. Success? Control of your roster?

Yeah and in hindsight it got us fulmer and Pruitt. Does anyone think Schiano Sunday was of benefit to the university and the program? Sure schiano would have been unsuccessful and fired anyway, but it has set the program back even farther leading to the sattling of us with sanctions and more as a result of what it got us. We might be in the sec championship or have garnered a top 5 recruiting class (with DWs guy) without the current restrictions/sanctions on the program.

This isn’t NIL. It brand new this year as part of House Settlement on 7/1/25. It’s a paradigm shift in college sports. CTV is fighting for his portion of the $20.5M Rev share that is allotted by each Athletic Dept. Reportedly LV Basketball received $3M and baseball got much less.
