Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I don't understand how fans conclude the best players or mix of players are not being used. Why would any competent coach intentionally sabotage the team and add an additional hurdle?
I think there is far more going on with scheme, breathers, personnel packages, and future development than we realize.

This is valid, and I dont pretend to know which 5 is best out there better than Elarbee. I know for a fact that having the same 5 guys out there every practice and every game is better than switching lineups though. This isnt basketball. Where you take guys out to grab some Gatorade. Especially playing with what is still the fastest moving offense in the country this season. Having continuity on the Oline is a commonly understood concept that every good team abides by barring injuries. Its different when both of our Tackles were hurt all season last year and one of them could only ever play half a game worth of snaps...but even then the 2 guards and center were the same all year unless they were hurt. I am not anti-Elarbee like quite a few posters are either. Our Oline has been a strength this year up until now. He needs to pick 5 guys and let them gel as a unit again. Bama doesnt even have a great Dline...they had 10 sacks on the year to our 26 I believe going into the game. They sacked Joey at least 4 times last night. FWIW, Eric Caine from VQ was pissed about this and he never complains about anything. He played Oline at Carson Newman through college and knows a lot more than I do about it...as well as actually knowing our linemen because his job is to cover them. He raised the same questions I have about why we picked the Bama game..arguably the 2nd most important this season...to start playing "musical chairs" on the Offensive line. I havent seen the PFF grades and they don't always tell the story either, but from what I saw Perry had a bad game last night at least at Tackle. He has been a valuable asset especially being so versatile, but they need to figure out what to do with him. Start him at Guard, start him at Tackle and redshirt Sanders, or relegate him to 6th man and have him spell or fill in for Guards and Tackles. I trust the coaches to figure that out but what they did last night was terrible trying to play everyone and it hurt us badly. I am not down on our team or coaches at all. I didnt expect to win last night. We probably drop another game and finish 9-3 and thats a good reloading year. Dont have many holes in the roster for the portal either besides Safety. I hope we beat UK down next week and believe we will.

Perry isnt a SEC starting tackle at this point. Shams isnt a SEC guard. We havent developed any of our own HS recruits so we have to overpay and spend high end NIL money to bring in decent (but not great) OL. This money spent here is causing holes elsewhere.....

I'm tracking with you.
OL coach, Hazle and CJH all know the dangers of musical chairs in the oline. There must be a reason beyond "let's give this a try". Something on the game plan, oe something the saw on film that Bama does.

Valid points. Elarbees HS recruit couldnt beat out Pendleton at Center given every chance, Warren and his whole class with 4 guys that were 4* havent been SEC starter caliber yet, Perry is still very young and was only a 3* so he has promise. Whomever starts at RTackle plus Sham who has been pretty bad at Guard are the only 2 spots out of 5 on the Oline which are NOT transfers. This is a valid argument. Like the Safety position which Banks himself coaches, the Oline has struggled every year except this one. We just landed 3 more highly rated Oline in the 26 class and surely pay a lot for them. They have to produce eventually. I don't think we should fire Elarbee though his recruiting is great right now.

This is also valid. Our coaches know more about it than I do. We looked like crap on our Oline for the 1st time all year though so whatever they were thinking was a bad idea. None of those guys were on the injuries/questionable list IIRC.

Brooks says in plain English that the 14pt swing from that pick 6 beat us. We lost by 17 and it should have been 10 since we DID score that TD at the end. He also calls out "that Vegas bullcrap on the last drive". I loved the announcer calling out the refs too for all the penalties on the last drive "in order to form a false narrative."

Might amaze some, but Brooks says plainly:
" There are 5 great teams in the SEC.
Georgia
Bama
aTm
Tennessee
Vandy "

Apologizes to Mizzou and doesnt even mention Ole miss. Said he saw 2 evenly matched teams yesterday and the 14pt swing at the half lost us the game. Like everyone else he says how stupid it was to fake a handoff and throw the ball sideways halfway across the field on the pick6 when nobody on Earth believed that we were gonna run the ball there with no timeouts left. He is right. Thats a terrible playcall. Judging by Halzes reaction in the booth on the pick he called the play IMO. It happens. I hope we get all these mistakes and clock management issues out of the way now rather than in say 2027 when we should have a better team and a real shot at a Title

I share Brook's sentiment. Aguilar mistakes were devastating.

We have a couple chemists and engineers on here that will understand this much better than I. Sounds promising though from what I could glean from the article.

Wonder if the Chinese already stole this entire discovery and related research yet...or if they are still in the process of stealing it. Probably a done deal. Like pretty much everything else we learn or develop whether privately or .gov...
