¿¿Tony Vitello to SF Giants?? (Merged )

Yep. Trey Wallace of Outkick last night said he had heard from people inside the program that they believe Tennessee baseball will be fine if Tony moves on, and if that’s true and the attitude of the decision-makers in the building, we have problems.
They are stone cold idiots if that’s true.Tony is Tennessee baseball

It makes no sense people are reading it like this. No one is saying Tony Vitello is replaceable. They are saying if he does go, it's not going to be the end of the world for Tennessee baseball. They are already investing into baseball like a top 5 program in the country. The job will be attractive. If Tony doesn't go this year, are you comfortable someone else won't come calling later? It seems inevitable we have to accept there's going to be a day we have to replace Tony.

Yeah, DW will go out and just happen to find another generational good manager who has nothing to do and bring him on to keep the train rolling. Because you know they aren't going to buy out someone for baseball. Hey maybe Bruce Bochy will want to end his career doing college?! I think he has a home in Nashville.

I don't know that at all. So how you can you know it? I just pointed out we are investing into baseball at a level few programs are in the country. That includes the ability to attract top talent to Knoxville. It's going to be an attractive job.

And Tony was the highest-paid coach in the country, right? Or close to it. What part of any of that suggests we wouldn't be willing to spend what it takes to keep it rolling?

If Tony V leaves the program will crater quickly.

Not going to read through 26 more pages of comments, but is it official? Has he actually agreed to go to the Giants?

Many of you are reading this wrong IMO.

My read…. When CTV got started in coaching, he dreamed of one day being a college HC. Then he did that. And he excelled and won a national title.

Being a Major League manager likely was beyond his wildest dreams. And what happens? He has the chance to manage in the highest baseball league on the planet.

If he takes it, it will have no reflection whatsoever on ADDW or UT. If anything, it will look good that we put CTV in a position to make it happen.

He will be hard to follow for any coach. But I say “thank you and absolute best wishes except against the Rangers…go crush it.”

I think you guys are underestimating the value Josh Elander and Frank Anderson provide to this program.

They both have been here since the beginning have built this thing up with Tony. Players ALL THE TIME talk about how important they have been to their development and name them specifically. If Tony leaves, and that’s the direction we go, we aren’t going to fall off a cliff.

It makes sense now why Elander hasn’t left to go get another job when we all thought he would

There are a lot of unknowns right now and far too many to predict where this is going to end up. Tony hasn't accepted yet, we don't know if Elander or anyone else will go with him. It's all projection until those things are known.

Your right. I work with new construction home builders and builders for both new homes, townhouses and multifamily apartments and condos. My company delivers and installs all the appliances for our customer partner Electrolux appliances. We work with Lennar Homes, DR Horton, Adams Homes and a bunch of others on the multifamily projects.

Builders get fined and money deducted if not finished with project on time and can rack up fines or charge backs every week or month that goes by and not finished. You would be amazed how fast these new multifamily 4 story apartments or even hundreds of new homes goes up and finished so 3 years just for a renovation is crazy slow.

Heck, we get warnings normally first just for dropping our trash (cardboard boxes, styrofoam, plastic film) as an example in the dumpsters on site but if my delivery/install teams continue to throw or leave trash, we get fined or chargebacks for each incident. And we have a set schedule for deliveries and installs, I can't just say we will finish in a couple of week or months later.
I remember being told fining the ones at UT doesn't do much because they just bill it back to the school as part of the project budget. It's a racket.

That's a great photo but thay isn't what SF looks like if you live its reality every day. That place is an actual cesspool of disturbed humanity. The community problems and unrest that one deals with in Knoxville looks like a cakewalk compared to what passes for a normal day in the Bay Area.

I don't care how rich you are or how much you travel. Does CTV really want to deal with that being "home?"

Interesting.

How long did you live in the Bay Area?

As of yesterday about 4:30 sterl the pearl said tony had met with the team and informed them that he had taken the job.

We were at the rocky top tailgate were he was.
