McCoy May Return For Arkansas

Judging by the last one, he either completely made it up or he got his info from someone completely full of it.
But he had the audacity to take a shot at me w his “trying to give me info” post.
I’m not an insider but will listen to my Spyre client over most on here.

With they said, McCoy has Not gone thru contact as of Tuesday, though some said he would be back by Arkansas.

He isn’t going to play this year.
He will work out for nfl teams and hopefully ready by then but fluid on the knee after reconstructive surgery for an extended time isn’t rare. It may not even be causing any pain but the fluid/swelling can cause stiffness and has to be drained or cold/compression and let the body get rid of it. It’s also an angry joint when it does that so I’d rather him not push it at this point.
If his workouts are good and knee is good, he will go in the first round. Focus on that. He tried. Maybe too hard.

I’m not buying the hard,”He will not play this season.” We’ve got six more weeks of regular season. One thing that may be clouding opinions is the recovery time frame exhibited by Zeigler. Totally different injury, surgery, recovery and set of circumstances being weighed.

He seems too smart to make a bad decision to come back for 2-3 games. Bball players don’t take hits on the leg or have to deal with the pounds of pressure while torquing on the knee for someone like McCoy to make a tackle on a 220 lb rb who went thru the front 6 like butter and fullspeed.

I think as he sees his draft value being compromised by not playing, that may change…

As someone posted earlier, he’s still being shown as a first round pick by most mocks. His 🎞️ last year was elite. I understand we want the kid to play and help the team this year.

But if he doesn’t play…it doesn’t make him selfish/bad teammate. College with NIL is a business. NFL is a business. He’s got a chance at potential generational wealth.

Ja’Marr Chase and Micah Parsons both sat out the Covid year and were still 🔝 15 picks. Not saying Jermod will have their success, but I don’t feel he should be looked down on if he doesn’t play another down at the University of Tennessee.

1) Never said he was selfish or a bad team mate. I agree that this is strictly business.

2) The Covid year was totally different. Totally. There were plenty of reasons to sit out that season.

My point is, he has already fallen from that top tier of cornerback prospects and will slowly lose position in the draft as the year plays out.

I don’t understand those who think he hurts draft status if he doesn’t try to play. If he is physically not ready to play and tries to, he could completely fall out of the draft.

That is why it is easy to understand it’s a health issue and not just sitting out to wait. I can guarantee you if NFL scouts / teams saw that, he would get advice from them to play.

When I went to practices years ago, there were many NFL scouts at every practice. NFL knows if he is healthy and just sitting. They also know if he is not healthy.

I wasn’t directing that at you my friend, just stating to some who may have reservations about McCoy. It’s a very nuanced situation.

Yes the Covid year was different but I bring that up because both guys I referenced weren’t penalized and the 🎞️ from their previous year was referenced as prospects.

It’s just unfortunate that it happened when it did and now it’s in limbo

to expect someone to come back 8-9 months removed from ACL surgery and play, let alone be at 100%, is insane. Top it off with what LWS has said about swelling after trying to perform drills and he's just not ready. The only thing this has to do with his draft stock is risking re-injury coming back too early and ending his career.

Yep. When LWS posts something like that you can take it to the bank. He doesn't state things as fact if he doesn't know. Larry knows people, and has close ties to UT going back at least to the Fulmer years. My Dad was friends with him and we have bought tickets from him in the past. One of a few posters on here whom I take what they say as fact regarding the team automatically, hes a good dude. I want McCoy back badly since we could probably make a playoff run if he was 100% but apparently his knee just isnt ready. Cant believe we lost Gibson too...THAT might be a blessing in disguise though because i think Gibson will be back as our starting Corner next year and we will need his leadership with the CBs because Hood is gone IMO.

Well i guess **** the vols then. Hell why do we even have college football? Just get ready for the draft once you graduate high school so you don’t get hurt.

Ps: coming back is in his best interest, dummy.

”if he were my son I’d tell him to sit and tank his draft stock”
Can you quote the specific poster that said that on here bc I would have issue with that as well?

As far as you first point, yeah it’s a bs world we live in now as far as college football but IF and I mean if he’s projected to be a high draft pick he has a decision to make. Basically he’s given a projection then he has to make a decision on what’s best for his future. Most of these kids come to college just to get to the league and if they’ve achieved that why would they jeopardize it?

That’s not my thinking or opinion bc I would give my left nutt to play a snap but sadly I have the athletic ability of a potato.

Those who think becuase McCoy is projected now as a 1st rounder and in some 1st round mocks that he is likely to stay there hasn't watched the draft process very closely. Many times from the end of the season to draft day names that are not known today shoot up the draft boards. There is a lot of recency bias and tape evaluation to be had. Right now Jermod is projected to be a late 1st based on the availble information of known players. But others will rise and it is only more likely that McCoy falls the longer he goes without putting more recent tape out.

How do you figure moron? He comes back, doesnt play like he did last year. His draft stock tanks worse. He comes back, gets re-injured he may not even get drafted. Him coming back IS NOT going to help this defense. This defense is what it is at this point. there is not fix this season. If you think there is, then you need to crawl out from under the rock you stay under

Thanks for keeping us informed, from what I've read seems like McCoy being a go Saturday isn't realistic?

I don't think anyone is suggesting he try to play before he is ready.

I will bet every one of those NFL scouts that are at practices will tell you that you cannot simulate real game conditions in practice. One thing scouts look for is a players mental response to real game situations.

Yeah, if he doesn't play this season he will fall out of the first round. Teams are very timid on drafting injured that high now. The Titans has learned this lesson the hard way a few times

Hubbs said on the podcast today that “no help is coming” when they’re discussing the secondary.

I haven’t finished the full episode yet to know if he ever directly references McCoy or Gibson. But that seems telling
If they could count on Boo and play him at safety, that would be a huge help. Just sad that what might be our most physically gifted DB just isn't someone the staff can count on.
