The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

Just give McCarthy the full-time job if he's interested. He's old but is lightyears better than whatever up and comer we could realistically get.

The team is absolute ass and needs someone to just stabilize it at this point. And I say that as someone who typically hates retread hires.

If it was me, Joe Brady would get the job the second Buffalo’s season is over.

Probably a dumb question, but I genuinely don't know about this with the NFL. Since Tennessee has already fired Callahan, could they interview someone who isn't employed with anyone right now or do they have to wait until the end of the season like they do with the coaches that do have jobs?

They still have to satisfy the Rooney rule but I don’t think it’s against the rules to hire the permanent guy in season just don’t think it’s ever been done before. As long as the guy is unemployed, on the current staff, or from college I guess.

First time poster, but just always interested in watching the front offices of different sports.

My only thoughts. You have a rookie QB. Does shaking up the staff so soon help the franchise in the future? In other words, what do you gain in starting your official search early as opposed to potentially setting back the rookie QB? My guess is little to nothing.

Plus, I think way too many franchises are pulling the plug too soon on these young coaches, especially a coach like Callahan who cannot be expected to do much with that roster.

It appears to me that the Titans need a new front office more than a new coach. They fired Vrabel, who is one of the best coaches in the game. Now this. And I’ll bet good money that 5 coaches ahead from now they still will not have as good a coach as Vrabrl.

They just hired a new GM (Borganzi) after last season.

Vrabel (should have been fired, IMO) he was (13-21) his last two seasons. In his last season the Titans never scored more than 28 a points in a game.

exactly she is shopping at Norstroms on gameday.......prolly asks her hubby if they won when she gets home. Those boys she hired takes care of that.
ours is trying to pick out a purse to go with her outfit to wear to the game.
She is probably at a Kohls or Coach picking out some fun stuff to wear for the fall season

Are you good, bro?

Might as well move the team into Vandys stadium and give Vandy the New stadium. Vandy is only one in town serious about football now. At least it would cut down on the amount of visiting teams fans coming to the games.

I remember being excited about TN getting an NFL team, they have been absolute garbage outside of the one year they made a deep run which is an outlier.
While the Titans have an overall losing record of 215-238-4 since moving to Tennessee and a playoff record of 8-10, they did get to the super bowl once since then and the AFCCG just 4 years ago. Not exactly absolute garbage. Not great either. Amy may no nothing about football, but I think she is learning to hire people who do. Firing Callahan was not something I think she would have done had she not had some football people advising her. I think we all would like to see the team improve, but as we have seen with the Vols, it takes a long time to get back after you have some really bad decsions. How long has it been since Fulmer was fired a few years too late? How many bad coaches were hired since? Maybe Vrabel should have been retained, I don't know. But unless they hire a homerun coach, the trend will continue. The HC is the most important guy on the sidelines and missing on that hire sets you back a couple of years after he is gone unless you nail the next hire.

In 28 seasons (counting this one), they’ve made the playoffs 10 times, AFC CG 3 times, and the SB once. Sounds like you are dynasty or bust.
