The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

ProFootballTalk mentioning bringing in Mike McCarthy right now in season. I don’t think that’s ever happened but I could be wrong.

I wouldn’t hate bringing McCarthy aboard at all, but George would just be stupid. We need somebody with NFL coaching experience.

So now that the bandaid has been ripped off at last, wanted to ask what you guys would think of Curt Cignetti.

I’d rather avoid a college coach, but something about Cignetti just excites me. I feel like his style of coaching could potentially translate well to the NFL, and his gritty culture reminds me a lot of what Dan Campbell has established in Detroit.

Woukd definitely choose somebody like Mike McCarthy before him, but it’s an interesting thought.

No, firing the coach is 100% effective..... As they are no longer the coach.

That being said what comes next is anyone's guess

Huh? Pairing a rookie QB with an inexperienced HC (Reich being an outlier of that list as I think he was HC in Indy) rarely works, if ever. Particularly when you throw in a GM, or whoever is in charge of the Titans' FO, that did not pick the HC. There is virtually no leash in that scenario.

No issue with the firing - it was inevitable the day Carthon got canned, which I also did not disagree with. We are in the wash, rinse, repeat cycle of GM, HC, QB.

It would be similar to Colts with Saturday. Naming George as the interim woudn't be a dumb idea because it doesn't matter in grand scheme of things. We are not getting a staff for the remainder of the season that will be hear going forward. I personally would like to see Vince Young brought in as the interim. Might as well get crazy with it.

Wow, Shocker

And what's funny is there are still Titans fans that think firing Vrabel was the right call.

Absolutely clueless ownership.

I can see people who think it was on its face. The issues are the other variables such as the coaching names out there to interview or the fact we had a guy so in over his head at the GM spot.

Vrabel was the lone bright spot of competence and discipline. And honestly, I think he was happy he got fired so he didn't have to deal with this franchise anymore.

I think Curt will stay at Indiana even with the Penn State job open. He’s 64 years old already hell MM is 3 years younger than Curt.

If pulling from college, I'm asking Kirby.

Maybe. Problem is you had the blue collar style of culture like Campbell has established when Vrabel was the coach and “Miss Amy” acted on emotions and fired him. Meanwhile Vrabel is doing more with less in New England.
