I think this is a generous ranking. I was willing to overlook the near disaster at Miss State and really thought we’d clean things up, but this is an 8-4/9-3 team at best.

I missed the news that the playoff starts next week. Either we'll win some big games and move up or we'll lose them and move down. We ain't staying at 11.
Exactly. Half the teams in the playoffs will have two losses. We could easily be one of those. The important thing is to not have three losses, and if we have a second loss it needs to be a close game.

We have not beaten a ranked team yet. Many of those above us have or are undefeated. I'm not worried about this poll. If we beat Bama we'll be top 10. If we go 10-2 we'll likely be in the playoff, having beaten Oklahoma and Florida. We are a play or two from being undefeated but also a play or two from having 3 losses.

Win out and this all will take care of itself. If we lose another game, we are NOT automatically out of the playoff picture - too many games left to play. Of the 11 teams in front of us there are matches between teams (mostly in the SEC):

- Ole Miss and Georgia play; one of those teams is going to lose.
- A&M plays LSU; one of those teams is going to lose.
- Bama plays LSU; one of those teams is going to lose.

You also have some matchups with the teams below that will influence this, but I am limiting to those above us. Some of those teams as well as some that are not even ranked can and will probably play spoilers.

If Tennessee beats Bama next week and Ole Miss beats Georgia - Tennessee will jump at least 3 - I feel a win at Bama would push us above LSU.

The sad part is that it is the SEC teams that will be jockeying and beating each out for these spots. OSU, Miami and Indiana have absolutely no one that should beat them - but I felt that way about Oregon last week and now Oregon actually looks beatable. And Miami has been known to lose to a team they should be down the stretch. And OSU still have to play at Michigan and rankings don't matter with that game.

We are basically not moving up much because teams above us are either winning or losing closely to each other.

ESPN and the media like to project with this poll - they do it every year - and every year teams move around. A lot of those undefeated teams will end up with a loss, many of the 1 loss teams will end up with 2 losses or 3.
OSU loss at Mich won't hurt them at all. Be back at 1 in 2 weeks.

If they considered officiating - they would have dropped Georgia even though they won.
The only thing to do to fix officiating and polls is to fire the officials or hold them publicly accountable....Too be honest they should have post game interviews. Failure needs accountability. Missed calls are failures.

I umped games at all levels up to HS. Pay was really good but I did it because I enjoyed the game. I would have done it for free.

In one game, My son was pitching and the Ump and field judge did not show up. My son's coach asked me if I had gear and I said yes and he asked me to UMP. I then I asked "who is pitching?" His reply was "Your Son" I firmly stated "No".

We waited, No show for the Umps and he asked again. I directed him to go to the other coach and tell him everything. I was calling balls and strikes on my son's pitching and that if this was going to cause problems for the opposing coach then I would not do it.

Second condition was that if my son let it carry over at home he was staying with the coach for another week. I missed a calling a ball a strike. Their bench erupted and when I had enough I stopped the game and called the coach over and politely told him, I missed the call.

I was sorry but I flat out missed the call. I stated you can dirty my shoes, cuss me all you want but I missed the call and stated that I understood. More importantly I told him that if I heard another word about it from the bench, his team would forfeit the game.

The score was 7-1 in favor of my son's team so I did not sweat it. I did miss call it and admitted it to the coach but I told him nothing I could do about it --- No reset, no make-up calls, no controversy. If he wanted to report it then report it.

Tennessee has had there share of missed calls as well as other teams. This year has been the worse I have seen across the board. The blue bloods seem to always get the benefit of the doubt.
The leagues have to be the ones to crack down on this but they will not because of $$$$. Auburn put it on Georgia. That call was crucial but they also took points away from GA on the same play by calling it dead. GA was going to beat Auburn possibly because of depth and talent but we will not know for sure as the result of a bad call and an early whistle.

Tennessee keeps winning and they either move 1 or don’t move at all. More likely the latter. If they drop the bama Tennessee takes a 5-10 spot hit when others only get 1-5 spots

We are not winning by enough.

I love TN but I don’t think we beat a single team above us or GA tech. I hope I am wrong and you can come back and tell me but I think we lose to bama by 17. LSU should be behind us a bit though and GA Tech 10.

We win out though we are in.

The first CFP poll when it comes out will be a reset - at that point it will be clear who the "ranked teams" should be and who they should not be.
