I missed the news that the playoff starts next week. Either we'll win some big games and move up or we'll lose them and move down. We ain't staying at 11.

Tennessee keeps winning and they either move 1 or don’t move at all. More likely the latter. If they drop the bama Tennessee takes a 5-10 spot hit when others only get 1-5 spots

Why would we move up more than a spot or two after barely beating the like of State and Arkansas? We've played one quality opponent and choked the game away at the end or we'd likely be top 5 right now, easily top 10. Beat Bama next week (unlikely), and we'll move up to around six. We have not been wronged by the pollsters other than the ridiculous practice of doing preseason rankings and not throwing those out the window after games start to be played.

Win out and this all will take care of itself. If we lose another game, we are NOT automatically out of the playoff picture - too many games left to play. Of the 11 teams in front of us there are matches between teams (mostly in the SEC):

- Ole Miss and Georgia play; one of those teams is going to lose.
- A&M plays LSU; one of those teams is going to lose.
- Bama plays LSU; one of those teams is going to lose.

You also have some matchups with the teams below that will influence this, but I am limiting to those above us. Some of those teams as well as some that are not even ranked can and will probably play spoilers.

If Tennessee beats Bama next week and Ole Miss beats Georgia - Tennessee will jump at least 3 - I feel a win at Bama would push us above LSU.

The sad part is that it is the SEC teams that will be jockeying and beating each out for these spots. OSU, Miami and Indiana have absolutely no one that should beat them - but I felt that way about Oregon last week and now Oregon actually looks beatable. And Miami has been known to lose to a team they should be down the stretch. And OSU still have to play at Michigan and rankings don't matter with that game.

We are basically not moving up much because teams above us are either winning or losing closely to each other.

ESPN and the media like to project with this poll - they do it every year - and every year teams move around. A lot of those undefeated teams will end up with a loss, many of the 1 loss teams will end up with 2 losses or 3.

I thought we were going to stay the same spot as last week. 3pt win over Ark at home isn't going to move you up the polls.
Times are a changing, any win is going to move you up and then hold you in that slot based on SOS. For years, we have used an antiquated system. Writers and Coaches are bias and prejudice and there are plenty of examples to back it up. Notre Dame for many years and still happens today. Unfortunately, as far as Tennessee's ranking is concerned it is about right until they prove them wrong and in some cases it will not change until there is a cleaner system. Other factors are officiating which does not play into the vote at all.

Who below us should have jumped us? OU lost to a Texas team that was unranked in one of the polls and 19th in the other. I was a given that they were falling below a bunch of teams.

If they considered officiating - they would have dropped Georgia even though they won.
