If they considered officiating - they would have dropped Georgia even though they won.
The only thing to do to fix officiating and polls is to fire the officials or hold them publicly accountable....Too be honest they should have post game interviews. Failure needs accountability. Missed calls are failures.
I umped games at all levels up to HS. Pay was really good but I did it because I enjoyed the game. I would have done it for free.
In one game, My son was pitching and the Ump and field judge did not show up. My son's coach asked me if I had gear and I said yes and he asked me to UMP. I then I asked "who is pitching?" His reply was "Your Son" I firmly stated "No".
We waited, No show for the Umps and he asked again. I directed him to go to the other coach and tell him everything. I was calling balls and strikes on my son's pitching and that if this was going to cause problems for the opposing coach then I would not do it.
Second condition was that if my son let it carry over at home he was staying with the coach for another week. I missed a calling a ball a strike. Their bench erupted and when I had enough I stopped the game and called the coach over and politely told him, I missed the call.
I was sorry but I flat out missed the call. I stated you can dirty my shoes, cuss me all you want but I missed the call and stated that I understood. More importantly I told him that if I heard another word about it from the bench, his team would forfeit the game.
The score was 7-1 in favor of my son's team so I did not sweat it. I did miss call it and admitted it to the coach but I told him nothing I could do about it --- No reset, no make-up calls, no controversy. If he wanted to report it then report it.
Tennessee has had there share of missed calls as well as other teams. This year has been the worse I have seen across the board. The blue bloods seem to always get the benefit of the doubt.
The leagues have to be the ones to crack down on this but they will not because of $$$$. Auburn put it on Georgia. That call was crucial but they also took points away from GA on the same play by calling it dead. GA was going to beat Auburn possibly because of depth and talent but we will not know for sure as the result of a bad call and an early whistle.
