Israel vs Palestinians II

WASHINGTON — The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) will oversee the initial stages of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) deployment into the Gaza Strip — with three or four other nations expected to contribute troops.

CENTCOM’s commander, Navy Adm. Brad Cooper, will “initially have 200 people on the ground” — though no American forces will go into Gaza, US officials told reporters on a White House-organized call.

The American military role was described as coordinating troops provided by Egypt, Qatar and Turkey — and managing deconfliction with the Israelis.

The US said no American troops would be on the ground.

“[Cooper’s] role will be to oversee, observe, make sure there are no violations or incursions — everybody is worried about the other side. So much of this is going to be oversight,” one US official said.

“Embedded in his team of 200 people will be probably a bunch of people from the Egyptian armed forces who will help, the Qatari armed forces who will help, as well as the Turks and probably the Emiratis,” the official said.

It's been mentioned often. Israel trying to maximize civilian casualties would result in loss of international acceptance and support.
That's what they're accused of now, so what's the real difference?

The Gulf states leadership have been pretty noncommittal and mostly sided with the stability of the Israeli nation, mainly due to the complexity of their relationships and interests. The people of those Gulf states are a different story though.

Some of that changed after the attacks within Qatar. It left us scrambling with not enough fore warning to smooth things over on the front end. That put Trump in a difficult position with Gulf allies Israel needs and from what I'm reading Trump let Netanyahu know about it.

I think Trump's an idiot but he seemed to have willed this peace plan over the start line against some pretty significant odds. I'll give him that, he's shown excellent skills on this particular issue.

I guess this could be right, let’s see if Gaza is depopulated after all these peace talks are over. After all, if that is their goal, that must happen for Israel to have agreed to the deal, right?
Not necessarily. They may be getting something else they're satisfied with short term, and what happens mid to long term is TBC.

The real difference is that Israel hasn't been continuously carpet bombing Gaza with the intention to kill as many people as possible; they just haven't given two shites who's affected by their fire and their blatant targeting of noncombatants, while common, hasn't happened as often as their attacks on what they can claim are hamas locations.
