Probably if they pass that settlement which seems about 99 percent likely then she would then all this years seniors would get another season.
Yes, 5 to play 5 sounds inevitable. So tear recruiting up and throw the pieces in the air again and see where they land. Tough break for the rising high school recruitment class. Roster spots at an absolute premium.

Can you imagine being a big time recruiter right now? Rules what rules? Think of the most improbable, Wild West thing the players' reps could come up with and that's probably the next lawsuit. Once the federal court said nothing can impede athlete's earning it was on.

We have Spearman, Robertson, Whitehorn, Wolfenbarger, Barker and Wynn as the current seniors.

Back Cooper, Boyd, Mia and Mya Pauldo, Prawl, Civil, Hurst, and Latham

So if your looking for a class of three or four that puts you at 18 and three players would have to leave. Supposed to all be settled in july with early signing in November and committing already in progress. It becomes a juggling act in year one for the Coaches. It would be tough for a coach if all fourteen said they wanted to return and you already lined up three recruits. That is when you would have to say no to some players.

What if the Power 4 schools got together and said screw all this NIL BS as well as any payment to the athletes. If the “student athlete“ (what a joke) wants to play at a school for a full scholarship ride, then welcome to campus. If they want to be paid according to their real life abilities, McDonalds & Burger King are always hiring!! Most college students would jump at the opportunity for a free ride.
If college athletics continue in the direction now trending, they will end up being no different than the pro leagues which I refuse to watch (especially the WNBA).

There is no "screwing" the "NIL BS." The courts have ruled that kids have a right to their own name, image and likeness. That is not going to change. Anything else that is done has to work around that fact.

Yep, the courts ruled the individual cannot be capped, but not the teams. Simple rule change schools can have as many NIL players as they want till they meet or exceed xxxx $. Until EVERY school hits cap the player has somewhere to go. Can exceed cap if just one player does that. So one 4 billion dollar guy not a problem. Oh, they can stay at the school, others just can’t get on the field in the same game. Define your cap players each Tuesday.

@RDRVol appreciate your opinion. May have shared it a few years ago until my three grandchildren started playing elite travel ball. Just to clarify, I have a 10, 9 and a six year old grandchild. They all three are in the 99 percentile of height and weight. They are good and want to play at a high level. Of course no one is making us do it. But you know we love our children!

Fees to play on an elite level travel program are over a $1,000 per season. That doesn't include equipment, uniforms and shoes.

Last weekend the two older boys played in tournaments in Virginia Beach, and in Northern Virginia. These were two day tournament requiring two nights of hotel stays at $200 a night. That's another $1,000. Three days of meals for a family of five was another $1,000. Travel cost and mileage on a vehicle add up to another large expense. Tickets (even for parents) to get in an AAU tournament is $30 per person. So my first week end I spent close to $5,000.

So, I now am firmly in the camp that believe parents and student atheletes should be compensated for the excessive amount of money that was spent to create the athelete you get to watch on TV.

I understand the argument about the scholarship and training support staff that the average student doesn't receive. I have a daughter with three degrees from UVA that cost me over $200,000. But never once was she prohibited from getting jobs to help with expenses. Working for extra money, is not realistic for student atheletes.

Baseball is an easier model to fix. Let the pros draft them for their rights, pay them during their school years and play within the colleges old system. Have a lottery to determine where they play, as they are now getting pro money. Would not get to pick location in pros. Schools keep supporting soccer, rowing, track, and the rest. Who better to establish a players value out of HS? Fast track to the minors if and when appropriate, with a degree if applicable.

Congress can kick open the door in ALL sports to match and off we go. Why allow the NFL to force them into college at college expense?

Basketball already has G LEAGUES and Europe, pay worthy, go get paid. School or workforce decisions are out there. AMATUER or PRO, you pick it. One and done’s are an abomination to integrity of college athletics.

Don’t let fake shell games cost minor sports, bands, etc. to cover pro development costs out of college revenues. I want the money they deserve to come out of the right pockets.

The courts would smack that down so fast. NCAA and/or individual universities cannot limit the outside earnings of athletes, and this scheme does that indirectly. They can ban certain sources like OF, and they can supply some light guardrails, but that is it.

Because you could never get 10 Power 4 schools to get together to do anything. Trying to shut out athletes is never going to be an alternative cause there is still plenty of money to be made even with a large payment plan to athletes. Of course the wild wild west could get so bad that the amount to field a team is more than what it cost to field a Pro team. There has to be a system of limits and that is what the settlement is all about. The settlement may not work because there may be some athletes that think they are being limited in their ability to earn by it. So they sue and were back to square one.

The solution is easy collective bargaining and contracts. Only way to resolve all this transferring and wild pay schemes to certain individuals who then don't think they are getting enough and start shopping themselves around like the guy we had playing QB. contracts would be effective to tying athletes to deals that they would have to honor. Having a salary cap is the only way to deal with it getting out of control. Having everyone agree to this as the best solution is the only way that controls will ever be established. It is not amatuer athletics anymore, never will be again so adopting a stabilizing plan has to happen.

Total real costs will go up when they become employees and their tuition and housing costs will require bigger salaries to cover the fact they will have to have those costs payroll deducted and become taxable income, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER PAID EMPLOYEE. Employee discounts and all. You can bet Uncle Sam and the states will have their hands out. So inflated salaries to offset this will be required. Income is income, scholarships are scholarships. Tickets will have to follow the employee rules as well. Not sure about healthcare due to the introduced risk for the jobs and how it is handled for teachers, coaches, and OTHER EMPLOYEES.

We don't have a starting lineup but these five would be as good as any. We will go on and add Mya Pauldo, Deniya Prawl, Jaida Civil, Jersey Wolfenbarger, Nya Robertson, Taniya Boyd and Alyssa Latham as the other possible starters. Hurst and Wynn look like the only two that look at this point to be looking for extended playing time. Not counting either of them out, but they seem to be behind the other twelve at least at this point in time.

Kaiya's injury set her back. I'm hoping she can recover and contribute.

for this offense to truly work, there can't be a "starting lineup....It has to be "when you go to the bench it is simply to reload,,,nothing lost in the trasition.

Jenna and Kim realized this after we got into the SEC run and adjusted their lineups to both have scorers

Probably going to use the same starting formula the five that play best in last game start, but I am sure our best five will get the bulk of the minutes while the next five to six will get backup minutes.

Instead of the typical "best 5 and best 2 subs " mentality, I really think we should think and post in terms of our "starting 10" -- which is then augmented by "tactical matchup" pieces on the bench who can be inserted at any time to create mismatches and force opponents out of their planned substitution schedule.

As a roster, we're going to be (soon, if not next year) like a swiss army knife, or a fighter jet whose single airframe can be used for / outfitted for a variety of roles or missions (whether air superiority, electronic suppression, ground support, etc.).

In this NIL/portal era when players need a reason to stay, I think we'll see CKC signing "project" players who don't yet have the all-around game to play at a high level, but do have some unique ability or combination of attributes which the team can utilize situationally immediately, while their full basketball skillset is being developed by the staff.

I believe you nailed it on the head.

THATS A COOL ANGLE
