Tennessee Lady Vol News

It is certainly about the money 20 plus million a year versus what Nike is paying which I heard was 5 million. So it really pumps up Tennessee NIl money and so when money is on the line for a player will be a huge advantage for us to be the winners. They were saying on one of the podcast today that if a nike school was offering 100 grand we could triple that offer. I think the amount they are paying is the number one reason were going with them. Nike still has a chance to match any offer don't think they will go over 20 mil, but you ever know.

We'll be the elite SEC school along with Texas A&M if we go Adidas.

Plus a big factor is that all uniform design is going to be done by Tennessee not Adidas so that is huge. They will be producing our designs and colors.

Jayson Swain has been saying for a few days that Nike is only paying us about $1 million annually in cold hard cash.

All I’m saying is, based on my own personal observations as an avid people-watcher, I’ve noticed that for quite a few years now the very first thing folks 35 and under do when encountering another person is check out their shoes. And there is often some kind of comment about what the other person is wearing. If someone doesn’t pass muster, they’re often dragged over it.

It just seems to me that having the right athletic gear brands in one’s closet and on one’s body has surpassed even the craziness of those days when Izod and Polo (and even Members Only! lol) were the in thing.

I hope the kids get on board with it! I personally couldn’t care any less, but I know a lot of people do care — way too much.

Ocean Pacific anyone?

In the meantime Chuck Taylor’s have stood the test of time.

That may be right, forget the article I read who said it was 4.5 million while they pay Ohio State 16.8 million. If it is a million that was really a horrible deal. Since Candace Parker is President of the womens branch of Adidas would expect some better uniforms coming from the womens side.

This is not the article but explains the current contract.

Good article, confirms what Swain was saying: Value of product = $3.7m /// Actual cash comp = $1.2m

"In the third year, it (the product allotment) increased to $3,700,000 and has increased or will increase by $100,000 through the 11th contract year in 2025-26.
The base compensation (cash) was $100,000 annually from the second to the eight contract year in 2022-23 and increased to $1,200,00 beginning in 2023-24."

If Nike wants Tennessee to stay with them all they have to do is come up with the money. Not acceptable that Ohio State gets 16.8 million and what were getting from them. Adidas has made a huge offer and considering how much it will help our Nil and that we will be the the main face of their apparel no brainer not to go with them if Nike can't pay the same amount Ohio State and other schools are getting from them.

Have we ever had a better year against Alabama than this last year. 12 wins 1 loss and 1 tie in all sports.

Softball was the outlier.

Need an edit to address softball…
Edit: did not play in 2024-2025 academic year… yet.

Nike is scheduled to pay Tennessee $1.2 million in base compensation in 2025-26, with an annual product allotment of $4.5 million… Per the contract, UT and Nike began negotiations for extending the deal in late 2024. But that exclusive negotiating window ended March 30.

UT is now free to explore other options… If Adidas, for example, can offer UT a much higher payout, it would help fund a more talented roster [through NIL]…

UT also could be prioritized and promoted as a premier partner of another brand, and its athletes would benefit from it. That’s a new concept in the NIL era, where schools can facilitate corporate contracts for their athletes.
