Recruiting Football Talk VIII

OH, this topic again. Lebron is my Power Forward on an all time starting 5. Larry Bird is over there at Small Forward. Magic at PG and Jordan at SG. Center? That's tough. I'll give the old timers Bill Russell. I like his intelligence.
Tim Duncan's a much better PF than LeBron.

PG- Magic
SG- Jordan
SF- Bird
PF- Duncan
C- Shaquille

That's your 5 greatest of all timers at their natural playing positions. (For reference, I'm 50.)

My 'Lebron' will destroy your Duncan.

I love to **** on LeBron, but he is legit the most talented player to ever play this game. No one else can compete with what he is able to do from a talent standpoint. Maybe Magic. But that's it.

But he is most certainly soft. He wouldn't have survived for 20 years in the league if he came up in the 80's.

Kobe is #2 for me. I know the stats don't really back that up, but he was just such a fierce competitor. And plenty of NBA stars feel that way too.

Shaq was my favorite. And honestly from a dominance standpoint, he is close to the top too. Literally no one could stop prime Shaq unless you fouled him.
Michael Jordan = GOAT = FACT

I think I would put Kareem above Shaq. Shaq couldn't hit FTs worth a damn, and Hack-a-Shaq was real.

🤔

'Sure love that Nebraska team.'

'Why?'

Being able to look in mirror and ask honest questions.
I had an epiphany the other day. I have looked in the mirror. I said to myself, "Maybe everyone doesn't hold my worldview, maybe there are people who don't have prejudices that affect their every thought and move , maybe my views are influenced by the by the fact that I am an old white privileged racist.
Maybe I should be arbitrarily pigeon holing everyone into an identity based on what they look like or their wikipedia page instead of wasting time learning about them as people. Maybe people's character doesn't matter and they should be judged solely on what identity boxes they check.
I now realize that the only reason that I think Larry Bird a great player is because he is white and old. I am having a little trouble juxtaposing that with fact that I was much more a fan of Dr. J, I was probably just compensating.
Wow that was freeing. Man, life is going be a lot easier now.

I don’t think Lebron is close to the most talented. I would say most athletic for his size.

Hakeem absolutely schooled Shaq in the finals

Stopped reading after you admitted you were an old, white privileged racist.

How can you not go with the cam after hearing that first big orange one chop chop as it was going down the strip?
That truck is the original reason I wanted to put a cam in and jack it up with some big super swampers 😂

I may not lift it at all. I can do 35s at stock height and found some pretty good looking super swamper thornbirds that will fit. It already sits high enough that I need to climb in. . . probably need to put a step bar on it. May lift it 1" in the front just to level it out through. Now I just need my chickens to lay about 40k eggs so I can afford them.

The '80's and '90's produced the best basketball IMO.

My opinion is also a fact.
I agree. I brought that up earlier in the week. The 80s were the pinnacle of professional basketball. The players were smarter, more fundamentally sound, and the games were played rougher, it mattered more back then. The game got sloppier and softer during the tail end of the 90s and early 2000s. LeBron was supposed to "save the NBA" but his ego and whining have hurt it. It'll be a better product when he retires.

I'll say this about Jordan, he was awesome and I'd put him number one, if I never saw 80s basketball. When MJ came along the refs called the games differently for him, he got away with stuff the previous generations didn't. Look at his highlights, on some of his biggest shots, he pushed off and you couldn't guard him because the refs would call ticky tack fouls. NBA commissioner David Stern let the officials treat MJ differently and we see the ramifications of that in today's games. Walks, double dribbles, most fouls, ect. aren't called anymore and all the "superstars" are the biggest whiners in the league.

Do it!

You know my philosophy. The answer to should I cam it or not is always YES lol
I'm just crying to myself about tearing the engine apart. Have to do it all myself, can't afford what a speed shop would charge.

Here's the thornbirds, I think they'll look good on a gen 2 2500 ram. Wish it was a Ford, but working with what I've got 👀

May end up lifting it a bit though, may try to go for something like this:

That's not entirely true. I remember seeing the bad noy Pistons routinely rape MJ with no calls.

If this defense stays healthy this year…. They could be special…

Joseph Ross Herring
West Bailey Westhersby
Eason Moi
Hobbs Schell Campbell
Spillman Carter
Boo McCoy Gibson Hood Turrentine Farooq

Dominating
I know this will be unpopular in Hand Wringing Season, but I think that we are about to see just how good the recruiting has been. I also believe that this years defense will be lights out and will be this teams calling card. And I think the idea that the season went out the window when Nico skated, is a lazy take. Heuple is one of the best schemers in CFB.

Well I now see that I have been looking at this all wrong. I just realized that pretty much everything that predates the Iphone is inferior, stupid, and racist.
Jokic, as did LBJ and MJ, a different NBA than Larry Bird played in. The rules have been changed to allow the modern style of play.
Bird wasn't even the best player in his era. He literally calls MJ the Goat himself.
