There was 125 international players on opening day NBA rosters. In the early to late 80’s, there was 5 less teams and 6 less roster spots( 3 of those are 2 way players). There are more American born players on NBA rosters today than in the 80’s.There's insanely more competition than in the 80s. Comparing about 200 million almost all US population vs countries totaling billions today. Tons of Africans, Europeans, South Americans. Same reason American-borb baseball players eventually got squeezed out.
More folks competing to get in, you see demographic changes that reflect said increased competition. It's completely global now unlike the 80s.
Plenty of the bench guys from the 80s would now, statistically, be lucky to make the D-league. And plenty of the starters would be lucky to be backups in the NBA. Just a numbers game and market forces.
Not in their case. The Pirates org literally has 3 times the analytics staff of any other team. The problem is they trample over the top of each other. The media in Pitt writes about when BP takes place, there are dozens of them walking around with tablets. They could cut that staff in half and have some money to spend on people that can actually hit instead of theoretical hit. They need some actual baseball people in their ops, not MBAs.The analytics people is the only hope they have with that owner.
Bob Ross is the greatest though! I go to sleep every night watching him on Amazon prime! They're saying that because white dudes seem to root for this white dude. No matter how much logic or reasoning you give them.
Arguing pro Bird as the goat is like me saying
'Bob Ross is the greatest painter ever.'
'What about Davinci, Sistine Chapel, and all that?'
Anyone, with any shred of any logic who takes breath knows. There is only one, and its 23
