Who ever heard of a kid named Dalton Knecht until UT grabbed him. Now look.
And that’s the thing. So many of these kids aren’t fully developed when they start college. They put on size, strength and speed….and gain a lot of experience and understanding of the game in the process. Garner has a good eye for these kids, what they got under the hood and between the ears. If he provides solid, dependable depth, then great.

It’s the best part of the portal, a late developing player out of high school. He goes to a smaller school and they get bigger, better and faster. Then they have a chance to move up in competition. GBO

The coaches wanted him, what the hells the problem? Why are you whining like you actually get paid to evaluate talent? You're couch jockeys just like the rest of us, can we just let the people that get paid to evaluate people do their job while the rest of us do whatever the hell we do to get paid for our job? I swear it gets worse every year, if you're not happy with the team I'm sure there are some bandwagon spaces available, if necessary feel free to take one. I'm tired of reading all the negative **** when it's not a 5 star like any of us could get paid to find talent for a college team, any team. This obviously isn't for everybody, just the usual unhappy few that are complaining on a regular basis. I know it's hard to believe but some of us just want to enjoy the fact that a player our coaching staff wanted wanted to be here, you know "fan stuff".

Wow. We get a GVS player. We really have high standards. We have a great portal staff. All I can say is Wow how Exciting.
He will play. I don't get it when some new gal on the block post trash on the board, especially one who , apparently, doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

Can't be impressed with his pedigree but that video is impressive. I get that he's playing inferior talent but he's got a maulers attitude.

Can we get posters to please reveal their coaching credentials before criticizing the judgement of the best DL coach in the country? And please state how you would coach our DL differently.

I’m glad you happy with a get from a Division II player. I see you have the same high standards. After this season, you will be agreeing with me about picking up D-2 players. There is a reason he is a D-2 player.

Division II transfer..... Originally the 398th ranked DL....No.87th ranked player in MI. No portal ranking.
And now most everyone on this site believes he is an all SEC player. UT football staff handing out orange colored glasses. Just crazy how are standards are falling.

I love how people who admittedly have never heard of this guy are getting criticized for no apparent reason by guy who has never heard of this guy lol.

Such ignorance. ACU (Abilene Christian) has fostered 43 NFL players. Mostly at the D2 level, and a few since moving to FCS. And that's just one example. Grand Valley State is an exceptional program with exceptional coaching and multiple titles. With Judon currently playing LB for the Falcons. I'm guessing you got squat, and likely run a 5.6 20 yard waddle. One thing we can agree with you on is you were never good enough.

Jesse "The Hammer" Tuggle, got overlooked by all colleges out of high school and ended up at D2 Valdosta State. Then got overlooked in the draft. Then the coach hauled him to Flowery Branch and pleaded with the Falcons to just look at him. 30 minutes into a personal workout as a favor to the coach, they signed Tuggle as a LB, and he played his entire NFL career for them. A pro bowl LB at that. Benched 428 pounds in HS and still holds our HS record after 42 years. And not just a podunk HS. A Clas 4A HS, which was highest in the state then. Same HS as Willie Gault. Same HS that has had 22 Alumni in the NFL. #41 in the country for that, and only GA HS ranked in that list.

Moral of that sometimes, big fish in big ponds don't even cast a reflection, but if you know where to find them the fishing can be great. You don't have to be an 8A 5* HS player from the SEC to be good. We've had boat loads of those guys that were crap. Yes, there are reasons players end up D2. Not all of those reasons are valid for keeping them out of Big Boy ball. D2 is represented fairly well in the NFL as we speak. To the tune of 46 on NFL rosters at the start of the 2024 season. Atleast a dozen of them were starting. 83 began pre-season rosters. So pardon the rest of us if we don't share your lack of knowledge in this thread.
