'25 QB transfer prospects (Joey Aguilar)

Boosters will be pissed if we take the UCLA kid. It’s the optics. That we got UCLA leftovers. If we go that route, and it doesn’t go well. Heupel will have burnt some important bridges with money guys. I hope it works out.
What did they expect him to do??? Let Nico run all over him and do whatever he wanted? Sit on 2 QBs, roll
The dice, and see how that plays out this fall? He didn’t have much of a choice in the matter. If a kid won’t leave his team high and dry, like Nico did, you have to respect that and move on. I’m sure that’s what coach had to do, so this is probably best available in this situation. It was a no win situation Nico put the coaches and the team in.

I’m all in on Joey Aguilar just from the sheer fact that he got screwed over by the Iamaleava’s in all this as well

People forget, Hendon Hooker got BENCHED at Virginia Tech and only transferred for playing time, same with Joe Milton. 7,000+ yards and nearly 60 TD’s at the college level is almost as good as we could’ve hoped for

Huepel is going to love the underdog mentality he is going to bring and I’m excited to cheer the kid on, win or lose!
Yep, he comes in hair on fire to prove what he is.

If we lose to Syracuse, Heupel better pray he doesn’t lose to the big three. Boosters won’t be happy being made fools after they have ponied up a lot of money for these recent teams.

We need another playoff appearance and to make sure Faizon signs.
You should post 600 more times about this. Spare us all and go to therapy.

“Boosters” in this case is just him. These are just his thoughts.

There are no good options at this point, every reasonable person realizes that. Nico screwed us, it is what it is. Nobody good was willing to screw their team over in the same way, which is commendable.

He led his team to the playoff ls his first year starting. Defense, Sampson blah blah. His resume is already 10x what Aguilar will likely ever accomplish.

There’s no way to know what Aguilar would’ve done as UT’s starting QB last season. If Nico would’ve went to UCLA out of HS and Aguilar to UT and led the Vols to the playoff, would you think Aguilar the better QB?

There’s no way to compare them besides physical traits, and Nico wins that battle. But can’t say for certain he’s the better QB. If Aguilar can read a defense and deliver the deep ball then 👀. If he can’t, then we turn to Merk and find a way to 8-4.

Sounds like from a bunch of people, $$ wasn’t an issue here. Screw any booster (imo) that doesn’t back what our HC thinks is the best option because he didn’t do what they thought was right. That’s how you lose a program and ultimately your job

For the season it’s a little disheartening. For the fall camp drama it can’t be better. Regardless I trust Heup, we knew this was the reality the second Nico pulled his bs. Let’s enjoy the ride

We 100% had to take another QB and you couldn’t let Nico call the shots I agree. BUT this 100% lies at Josh feet. Nico was his guy and he built the program around him not to mention all the $$ especially when half of his time here he was on the sideline. Josh gets paid like 9 mil a year to manage these things. He should have correctly handled the situation back in December when he had more viable options on the table.
