I don’t know about that. Neither was expecting the job this year anyways with Nico here, and they weren’t transferring then. I think if you bring in someone who is likely a one and done, nothing changes for merk and gmac.

only thing about that though, is the moment Nico left that kind of changed. Merk at least, probably now feels like he should be challenging for the job given the circumstances. I still don't think either one of them leaves at least before this portal window closes.

Obviously not saying I think Aguilar will be HH 2.0, but if Heup likes him and it frees up more money for other pieces we need, maybe that is the best play here.

I think our ceiling is 10-2, but I by no means think that’s likely whatsoever. Most likely finish 8-4 imo. Hard to see Aguilar leading us to wins over Bama, Florida and GA, but I think he’ll beat teams like Kentucky for sure.

Feel like our 4th loss will be either Cuse or OU. I know we get OU at home but they upgraded their firepower a lot via the portal. Definitely not a gimme game

If we lose to Syracuse, Heupel better pray he doesn’t lose to the big three. Boosters won’t be happy being made fools after they have ponied up a lot of money for these recent teams.

I’m all in on Joey Aguilar just from the sheer fact that he got screwed over by the Iamaleava’s in all this as well

People forget, Hendon Hooker got BENCHED at Virginia Tech and only transferred for playing time, same with Joe Milton. 7,000+ yards and nearly 60 TD’s at the college level is almost as good as we could’ve hoped for

Huepel is going to love the underdog mentality he is going to bring and I’m excited to cheer the kid on, win or lose!

It’d definitely not be good for him. But I think people on this board need to accept we’re not beating Cuse by 60 points. They were very solid last season and Brown is a good coach. They’re not your typical ACC pushover team like NC State was. Plus it’s week 1 with a new QB. I can absolutely see that game going poorly for us.
