We are still talking with Altmyer. It’s proving tough to get him to make the jump. Part of me thinks we are bringing in UCLA kid to pressure him to make a definitive decision. Fingers crossed.

I think that’s the point is nobody knows if we have anything at wr, qb, ol. Ideally you’re not in a situation where nobody knows what you have, that’s good roster management. But we’re just gonna have to trust in heupel and co this year to navigate a tough set of circumstances and really develop our young guys. Looking like a rebuild year instead of a build-upon one. Thank god he has the good will of some very good seasons leading up to it. And hopefully we can close strong on this 2026 recruiting class.

Not saying i believe the Luke stuff but, it definitely makes since to bring in 2 qbs as 3 just isn't enough either.

If Aguilar comes in at least you can sell Merk and Mac on, "he's coming in to compete for the job" and you don't risk losing one of them right away, even though that may eventually happen. But you bring Altmyer, they both know he's coming in to start and then you risk maybe one of them leaving sooner rather than later. But, at least then you go get a depth guy, who may actually be easier to find than someone like Altmyer who is somewhat proven.

I think of at the end of the day it's going to be Aguilar. Atmyer isn't even in the portal and sounds like we are talking with Aguilar today, so that may get done fairly soon. Really really really need the BYU WR to come as well. That could really help things.

I don’t know about that. Neither was expecting the job this year anyways with Nico here, and they weren’t transferring then. I think if you bring in someone who is likely a one and done, nothing changes for merk and gmac.

Feel the same. That said, if he did skip NIL and team obligations, as rumored, then who he was when he WAS present still doesn’t make up for putting his teammates, coaches, and our NIL relations in bad positions consistently.
