Recruiting Football Talk VIII

he is battle-tested in QB competitions, he would come in to provide stability for their offense during injuries or when QBs struggled

dependable, seasoned, here for 1 year

he checks a lot of boxes and won't interrupt the QB room's succession plan
Agree and is proven on a level much higher than Taco.

That’s better than fkn Angeli.

I legit would’ve cancelled my volclub membership. Show them who’s boss, no longer can they use my $25 for their weekly McDonald’s breakfast
Hahaha. I would have let mine roll just to have ecred in these streets. But sent them an email of disappointment.

You’re better than me, my friend
I try to remember i only see a small portion of what all they juggle. I truly trust our NIL team to be more competent than most. If I was ever going to hold out it would he over Heup not holding guys to being better recruiters. I think Spyre carries a lot of water for that crew.

@TrippieRedd can breathe easy
@Checker_the_Shire can take a break at work

@BigSteve09 and I can celebrate that the floor is set acceptably high for us. As we look up.

great

I hope we do have a big fish on the line. I still doubt it, but sure.

For all you gamers out there, Angeli would be like adding a 78 OVR to the roster in NCAA 25. Not elite, but serviceable. And sometimes that's all you get.

For the guys that think there's bigger and better out there

I'd love to walk into the liquor store, and have it full of Taylor and Weller and all sorts of other things I've loved to have over the years. But if all those bottles on the top shelf and second highest shelf are super glued to the freaking shelf, I can't very well buy those can I?

So I have to get a common bottle, a dependable drink that won't wow, but certainly won't disappoint.

As long as we don't walk out with a bottle of Evan Green Label, I can live.

The thing I like most about him is that he's been through a ton of QB battles, and if he's coming here, it's because he thinks he can win. Which would mean a very agressive QB battle through the offseason and fall camp. It will engage and likely advance everyone in the QB room. That's certainly fantastic. The QB battle was relatively non-existent otherwise. Everyone knew it was Nico's.

Yeah I talked about that last night,
Nico taking Matthews to Cali with him to "work on the new offense" basically amounted to walking out on all of our other WRs who could have been a part of the same experience in Knoxville. I'm suspicious he was trying to recruit Matthews to leave with him.

We agree and he's battle tested in a high stakes environment. He is a very very solid floor that many will complain about lol if we land him.

Hubbs asked it best though...who's the best decision maker and quick thinker available. With limited time to learn it all that matters more than velocity. He made good points.

every time I see Nico's face on articles or YouTube vids, Podcast graphics... I'm just like man I can't believe he did this

It all makes sense why someone like him, or someones like his family, would do this. If you make it about the money, the conversation is always about the money, but what a crock
It occurred to me this morning that yet another in a 100 ways that Big brainless Nic and his agent pal harmed Nico was demanding (if reports were true) that Nico redshirt his freshman season. More playing time his first year would have helped him a lot last year.

Moreover, Nick was acting like Nico was a 3-year guy. So wft difference was a redshirt going to make, unless they either actually thought Nico would be five years in college, or he just loved to meddle to the detriment of the team and their son.

Hell Brendan Sullivan probably would do alright as a 1 year "no threat" type of guy.

Has been in college 4 years, played in 23 games. career 69.4% completion on 248 attempts. Seems he's lost the starting role a few times because of injuries though. So might not be durable enough for a SEC schedule.
