Recruiting Football Talk VIII

With all that money, they couldn't hire American Van Lines to move him?

UCLA MBB team flew Allegiant Air to NCAA tourney. (True Story) They aren't paying for moving costs. That family is in for a shock man when it comes to being wined and dined. UT golf team flew on the Tennessee jet to Florida.

yeah, i'm thinking that had something to do with it.

I mean it seems pretty easy to me to show up to do your marketing obligations. It's not hard work. But they seemed bitter over it, and not wanting to go the extra mile to impress anyone.
Expecting preferential treatment.
Thinking they were gonna get paid regardless.

Cali cost of living gonna bite em in the ass. Gotta start saving
Now that's the truth. There are some beautiful and cool areas in Cali. But, once I was offered a job in the Bay Area with a 30K wage increase. Put that in the old Cost of Living calculator, and I'd actually be taking a pay cut. Pass.

It’s almost as if rolling into spring practice with only 6 scholarship WR’s, with their combined receiving yards being 444, and replacing 4/5 starting OL is a bad i dea 🤯
Considering last year our wideouts only gained about 1000 and we upgrade on o-line, no, it is not a bad idea.

Surprisingly quiet now that the Portal window opened. Speaking of one that announced, why would Slaughter enter the Portal? Wasn't he going to start?
Nah but he should have got some playing time. He’s fourth behind Turrentine, thomas, thomas. Maybe 5th behind Beasley (they said he worked out a lot at safety this spring).

That's potentially the problem. Established QBs don't have anything to base the quality of the playmakers on the roster. We don't have any WRs returning that have proven anything on the field, much less being a significant playmaker. To get a above average QB in this tight window, we may have to also invest in a top WR from the portal first and then get the QB on board.
We had receivers open all over the field last season, same as the previous three years. The difference is Hooker hit them. The trigger man is the key to making the offense go.

Basilio said today that we’ve had conversations with three different QBs by representatives not directly related to the football program or administration. One immediately said they weren’t interested and the other two have concerns about our lack of proven playmakers. This appears to be an obstacle for us.
who knows what kind of playmakers we have. Alot of big plays left on the table last year so anybodies guess on playmakers

Eh, seems like a stretch. If someone has always paid you on time in full, you don't leave them because you heard stories of other people not getting paid.
fair point. They might of had that attitude coming into college, but that should have changed with being paid over 2+ year period...

Basillyo knows nothing.

He throws s&*+ at the wall and reads between the kernels of corn for insight.
