I was using some hyperbole to make my point that none of us know the inside facts, and for someone to insist that we have more NIL money than TCU just because we have more fan support is not considering other factors. What I do know is that several Texas schools became sudden expert recruiters once NIL started. Believe me, as an intense LSU fan for all sports other than WBB, it has been a nightmare to see how many highly recruited Louisiana football players that never used to go to Texas schools did so starting year one of NIL. Is NIL related to the sudden rise of TCU becoming in a two-year period one of the top transfer portal success stories after absolutely no history of doing so in the past. I can't imagine that all the people they are getting are just based solely on how much they love the coach. It takes a while for the word of how wonderful a coach is and this is a team that just a year ago had to do tryouts with the general student body due to the lack of players. Just saying. You couldn’t possibly know that information. You must have been using hyperbole.
You’re working overtime to build the foundation for a plank in your negative recruiting platform today.I’m not saying nobody will come, I’m saying the top players want mins and to stay in the game, role player type players are more willing to do that. Let’s see the quality of players we get now that everyone has seen the system.
I don't know why it's either "moral victories" for you or being the 100% favorite to win the national championship, nothing in between. I think it is completely reasonable to look at other markers for success that fall somewhere between these extremes. I think it's unrealistic to expect a national title in Year 2 but also valid to expect other improvements next year (e.g., SEC standings, defense stats, 3-point and FT%, getting to host in the NCAAs, making it to the Elite 8 or beyond, knocking off teams we didn't beat last year, signing a top-10 2026 HS recruit, etc.).Not at all, after the portal I’ll be back to just cheering and being happy with the moral victories. I have no expectations for next year besides making the tournament.
That’s why I said I won’t expect anything until year 3, and everyone should just be happy to make the tournament. 1st year start the system, year 2 they get freshman and fill out the roster with the portal, year 3 everyone now on the roster has experience in the system so that’s when they should take off. But even if they don’t compete by then it can be up to 5 years and I’ll be fine with it. But during every portal season I’ll get excited about players and move on after.I don't know why it's either "moral victories" for you or being the 100% favorite to win the national championship, nothing in between. I get it, the portal and NIL have changed the game and everyone's expectations for turning things around overnight, but IMO, the programs relying so heavily on the portal may not have staying power year-to-year. I trust that our staff is building something for long-term sustainability and success.
In the beginning of this portal thread someone said we had the money. And far as the big fish goes don’t think there’s one. I think they going to get help but it’s not the players everybody thinks. I’m not knocking the coaches they know what THEY need or want. I will admit I’m puzzled why we haven’t had nobody commit yet.Do we not have any money?? Or wait ing for the big fish??

It was meant to say he….not you. I corrected the post, sorry for the confusion, we agreedI was using some hyperbole to make my point that none of us know the inside facts, and for someone to insist that we have more NIL money than TCU just because we have more fan support is not considering other factors. The role of the super-rich contributors is a thing. I thought it was so quaint that St. Johns got so good at MBB after such a drought since their days of being a power in the 80s. Yes, they have a good coach but it no uncertain terms per a NYT article that a Billionaire alumni took over their NIL a couple of years ago +and started making sure that they got better recruits.
Like your list if only we could make that happen, lots of schools after themWilliams, Okot, Weimar, Kneepkens, and Ziegler. I'd like to have two of Williams, Okot, and Weimar. Like to have both Kneeplens and Ziegler. That would give us three point shooting, rebounding, defense, and passing to a higher extent than we have now.
