TCU situation has more to do with Mark Campbell and less to do with NIL than you think. He’s been a very popular players coach since he was an assistant at Oregon. Was credited for much of Sabrina Ionescu’s development and now VanLith.

Miles and other are going there for his tutelage, the NIL is secondary.

We are All aware of the current roster that you won’t shut up about!!! The point is we need MORE PIECES! Bigs!!!! 3 point shooters!!!!! And all of them are getting gone! We haven’t signed a single player meanwhile everyone around us has already signed. Use your brain

This thread today has become like a game thread where many people get so negative and catastrophic in their posts. I would love to see us a get a few good portal players and believe that are coaching staff will get them given their recruiting efforts so far. We just are ending year 1 of a rebuilding process, so we are still likely to be behind a few teams that have been building on their success for several years. So, I don't think it will be a disaster if we are still behind teams like SC.
I was never sold that Latson or McMahan would be a great fit here, though certainly would have been excited to get Latson. The only problem I would have with Latson is that she probably would get so much NIL above what our current players have, how would this effect the team. I have heard nightmare stories about how transfers in different sports upset the team chemistry and don't fully buy into a team's culture, so you have to be careful about it. I don't know what NIL amount is, but I think our style of play is probably best to spread the wealth among many good to potentially great players than to spend a huge chunk on one of the top one or two players that are in the portal looking for the highest bidder. I am not saying that is exactly what is happening with Latson, but it is definitely common practice.

I can’t testify to what Ole Miss has, other than I’ve been told they have what they need to be competitive. But TCU absolutely does have more NIL money than Tennessee. They have more NIL money available than any SEC school. They, despite being a smaller private school, have one of the five wealthiest alumni bases in the country, and they are using it to their advantage. And even in the New World of NIL, the multiple oil billionaires that they count among their donors can pay players to endorse their oil companies as much as they want.

I forgot Campbell was an assistant at Oregon. He brought in Satou Sabally and Ruthy Hebard, too. Now this is starting to make sense.

Man, I really think that Oregon team in 2020 would have won the tourney if not for COVID. They were really riding high. It's a shame we'll never know.

Do you think it’s as easy as just showing up on someone’s doorstep and demanding that they come to your school? That’s the tone of your post. And that’s fine if you think that. That’s just not reality.

Oh, to have been born into generational wealth. :( I can't blame those who have the $$$ and want to throw it at their programs to be successful.
