RIP Keith Hatfield aka Hatvol

Yes. Honestly, a really good dude in person. He was just a little too honest for some people to handle on VN. Gone too soon.

Enjoy every day and make it to that game that you are having second thoughts about.

Well said. Nice to hear from someone who knew him.

So was Hatvol a Knoxville resident? He must have been well-known outside of VN, too.

An attorney that would hang out at downtown watering holes - maybe Clancy’s.

He was on the radio (the show was actually streamed on the internet) with Basilio after basketball games. He wouldn’t hold back on his criticism.

I was just thinking about the old days on this board and Hatvol was epic. I actually just googled Hatvol to see what would popup and this thread was the first thing. I really didn't expect to see he passed away 3 years ago. Very sad and way too young. I thought he had a spat with Freak and went to a rival site full time. Reading over this thread it sounds like he left for other reasons. I'm sure he's posting upstairs about how the Vols will blow it this year and how Heupel is a donut eating slob that covers his mouth on his microphone just to smell his own breath. The guy was ruthless.

Thanks for sharing this. Just taking a stroll down memory lane today and it made my day. I hope all is well with Vades, BD. Freak, GA, and ViB and the rest of the gang.
Hey Lex. Good to hear from you.

I could be wrong but I thought it was over a football coach hire(?).
I don’t think it was really a specific issue. Hat was just a super articulate guy that refused to suffer fools and loved to play the heel on the internet. Eventually he got tired of where the line was.

I actually met Hat at a tailgate one time and the dude couldn’t have been more friendly.

Was thinking about Keith tonight and ran into this wonderful tribute to him by a man named Joe Ayres.

It's funny I met Hat in 2006 in Nashville at the Tennessee vs. Oklahoma State basketball game. We hung out before the game in a bar and talked awhile. I am also from LaFollette and didn't know he was until then since he was a few years older than me and I left home when I was younger. He was actually a really great guy and really kind. I always thought of his online persona as him playing the heel in wrestling and he had a good time with it and I always enjoyed his posts.

How does everybody know Hat? LOL. This thread reminds me of the old SNL sketch Bill Brasky. Everybody has a story.

Man, I Know you haven't been around in a long time when you have 22000 posts and only 242 likes.

Good to see you kicking.

I wonder sometimes about some of the old guard names that you never see any more.
