The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

What are you basing his potential off of? His play at tackle?

Multiple things. He was a decently high draft pick. Played at a decent level early on. Is only in year 4 I believe. Oline often take time to develop. And on top of that his biggest issue is pass protection which is masked by playing inside

You’re moving the goal posts. I never stated he was a wiz. Lol “has shown that he can’t develop talent while calling plays”….you just told me he wasn’t calling plays. What are you even claiming at this point? How can you claim he’s shown something that you’re simultaneously claiming he never did?

Calling plays has zero to do with developing talent.

And yes 5 years as an NFL OC is absolutely someone who gets considered for HC. Especially when those five years include a Super Bowl and AFC championship game

It is factual he held the job of offensive coordinator for a team that went to the Super Bowl and AFC Title game. It is also factual that he had no playcalling or vital duties that led to the development of those seasons.

And that is evident based on his first year of actually getting to call plays with zero creativity that titans fans were promised would come with the a modern offensive mind.

But I digress. I guess we found the president of the Callahan Fan Club with you.

None of that is evidence that he can’t develop talent. Plenty of coaches develop talent and do not call plays. Those are separate things. There’s probably plenty of elite play callers who aren’t great at developing players.

You’re just continually doubling and tripling down on ignorance. This is sad. You’re an adult.

I missed that Stonehouse was gone. Our best weapon!
Eh sort of. He has a really strong leg, but he’s (especially since the injury) been lacking in other areas since the injury.

His yards per punt are absurdly good, but he has zero control when it’s come to other things like hang time or placement (it’s gotten exacerbated post-injury).

There were other special team issues (scheming, etc) mind you, but a major issue creating so many of those big punt returns that were allowed were because he out-kicked the special teams coverage or would get minimal hang time on his punts.

As someone else put it: he’d often kick the ball too far, and the gunners would need to hit a returner already moving at 15 mph rather than one moving at 2-4 mph (from a ball in the air long enough that the gunners got to it around the same time the returner got it)…an “all-sauce, no flavor” kind of punter, not enough touch to put the ball where it needs to go.

His leg is fantastic, but it was almost too strong for his own good, resulting in one of the worst average hang times and constantly/recurringly out-kicking his coverage team.

(Edit: In something else I read, a commenter compared him to Joe Milton - you know, on those throws where Milton just fully let it go but his really great arm strength’s just so much that it’d sail past/miss the deep, open wide receiver - …and honestly, the more and more I think about it, I can kinda see the comparison)

Not a loss. He's never gonna be anything more than an avg #4 WR.
I disagree, he was the best, most versatile wr on the roster last season. He could fill in any spot on the field at wr. He's a solid 3.

Rams released Cooper Kupp. Couldn't find a trade.
What happened to him? He was incredible a few seasons ago.

OK, the O-line is plugged if Zeitler signs. Now they need to learn to play together. Dad C has a little something to work with at least and it takes away the need to draft O-line in the higher picks. They are fine at RB. So it is QB and WR primarily on O. Interesting situation to watch play out.

Injuries and now, age. Could not make the sharp cuts that gained him separation that he had in his better days. Will be option #2 or #3 with wherever he lands.
Dang. He burned through his health quickly.

Stonehouse was really only very good his first year. Was never the same after his injury. This is an upgrade over the last two years.
My uneducated theory is that he is part of the reason for blocked punts. I think maybe he holds on to the ball about a .5-1 full second longer than most NFL punters.
