The Official Tennessee Titans thread IV

The problem isn't being in a hurry, it's the available free agents are all but gone.

That’s a good thing. If we don’t take one, we need one next year still. So get someone who can’t win 7 or more.

The thing we don’t want is to be mediocre. Especially mediocre without a long term QB (Rogers for example).

Sanders any better?

I don't watch much non-SEC
Plays within system better but arm not as lively. I've heard many franchises don't even consider him a first round talent. But the position premium bumps him up. I think that's true for both QBs to some extent.

One analyst said if these two, as they are today, were in the same class as last year's QB's they wouldn't have been among the first 4 or 5 QB's taken.

With Titans O-line, whoever is the dude better be able to dance like a jive turkey...

Well the folks in charge are not that bright and think they are smarter than they actually are.....

Your takes are always these over the top claims. “So and so can’t develop talent!” “So and so is stupid”

I think you should take in better sports media sources. You’re too old for these brash takes. You have no way of measuring a new head coach’s ability to evaluate talent, nor do you know if he is intelligent.

Complete trash, Steve A Smith level nonsense

Edit: should say “ability to develop” not elevate.

Lot of discussion about adding people through FA. When the new GM took over, he was clear in his philosophy...fill immediate roster holes with FA and build the team through the draft.

The Titans are easily looking at another 2 to 3 years of rebuild.

The problem is that we have a lot of holes. And we have quite a bit of cap space that we have to use.

I'm not saying sign someone just to sign someone, but there are clearly upgrades to me made and we have the financial means to make it happen.

No argument. We don't expect to fill every hole in one off-season, do we?

"Take in better sports media sources"...... All you need to do is open your eyes and ears and actually watch the games to know how in over the head this head coach and owner is......

The GM is a bright spot, but the hope is that he infects the bad spots of the franchise and not vice versa.....

And my stance on Callahan has been very consistent and factual: He was OC in title only and didn't actually calls plays while Burrow developed into a top QB in the league and his last name has afforded him a very quick rise...

There is nothing that screams Callahan is one of the best 32 coaches in the league nor did his resumê scream he was one of the more qualified candidates in the league for the job when it was vacant. The only clear and visible trend is that Amy has hired unqualified people for GM and head coach this decade outside of the latest GM hire who comes from a front office of success.... The hope is he pans out and isn't micromanaged to death by the owner.

No one cares if he called plays or not. That doesn’t prove your claim that he is incapable of developing talent. You’re just talking out of your backside. You’re too old for these absurd takes.

Anyone would look in over their head with last year’s roster. The people whose intelligence I would worry about here aren’t the coaches, but rather any fan who failed to see that.

You have no clue if she micromanages, if he can develop talent, if he is in over his head, etc. You’re too old to talk out of your a$$ this much. It should personally bother you to speak with such confidence about things you’re incapable of knowing

No. But it's disappointing to see us miss out on players to fill our worst holes while signing 3rd tier FAs. It feels like the Ruston Webster era all over again. I mean I get that it's hard to get talent to sign on with the worst team in the league, but money talks and we have money to burn.

I will say that the Moore signing is growing on me. 26 year old LT's rarely hit the FA market. And there is certainly some upside there. So he's a guy that could be a building block for the rebuild.

But everything else so far.... Bleh.

Sanders should be used to a bad o-line. Plus he is really accurate and throws a very catchable ball. Problem with him might be the influence of his dad.
There’s a huge difference between having to do that at the college level, though, and having to do that at the professional level, where the gaps in the athleticism/athletic abilities of everyone on the field are significantly narrowers.

Would Evan Neal be available for a late pick and could he be our Becton at RG?

Or are we just going to slide NPF inside?

Being OC in title only with no playcalling roles/duties while having one of the top QB's developed in the league is not some check in the pro column on Callahan.... This isn't some grave controversial take....

And yes, even Stevie Wonder can see how involved Amy is with the franchise......

Poverty franchise.

“Not some check” doesn’t prove your claim. It’s not controversial, it’s simply ignorant. Calling plays and developing talent are not the same thing. Plenty of coaches develop talent without calling plays.

Yet Callahan has shown that he can't develop talent while calling plays..... Once again, the obsession that Callahan is the next wiz kid that can take the Titans offense to the new age is hilarious... If he didn't have his last name, his rêsume would not warrant being considered a head coach in the NFL.

You’re moving the goal posts. I never stated he was a wiz. Lol “has shown that he can’t develop talent while calling plays”….you just told me he wasn’t calling plays. What are you even claiming at this point? How can you claim he’s shown something that you’re simultaneously claiming he never did?

Calling plays has zero to do with developing talent.

And yes 5 years as an NFL OC is absolutely someone who gets considered for HC. Especially when those five years include a Super Bowl and AFC championship game
