I agree, but I don’t think they could have done much better than this. Biden ****ed them by announcing he was running again and nuking the primary field before it got started.
They can’t depend on black votes and then stiff arm the black VP, right? Even if black people don’t really like her, pushing the black lady aside in this circumstance would be a terrible look.
They also needed to make a decision ASAP. Splintering the base into primary mode in August before a general election would have been worse than just running with Biden. Getting Whitmer, Kelly, Buttigieg, Shapiro, Beshear, AOC, etc on board so quickly was the best they could hope for, IMO. It’s the most organized they’ve been since everybody dropped out to pave the way for Biden.
