Even if this were the case. They would’ve removed Trump from stage before shots were fired. Either the counter sniper team didn’t recognize the threat until too late or they were told to hold off bc maybe someone thought the local authorities were dealing with the issue. No one wants to shoot a troubled 20 yo that probably has been brainwashed but at the point where the guy gets in that position you have to deal with him.I don't see how it's really SOP.
I am not so certain about that. In an emergency situation, I do not think POTUS has any say.
Would be interesting to see the number of secret service agents on his detail this stop vs the normal and to see how many were on Jill Biden’s detail. It gives the appearance of something especially heinous if Trump’s detail was reduced even if nothing was intentional it will really get the conspiracy theories rolling moreso. This is a unique case. This isnt Jimmy Carter or Mitt Romney.
Considering they gave the locals this vulnerable spot leads me to speculate they have understaffed (bad risk assessment, retention issues) his detail...

I think that's actually protocol. They are shielding him and blocking all possible angles for any opportunity for a targeted follow up shot in case there are still active or multiple shooters. Remember, they are wearing the latest and best lightweight body armor, the safest place for the protected is under layers of all those agents with armor on.The main thing here I don't understand is why SS didn't rush his orange ass off the stage immediately. I understand they shot the one guy at that point but in the heat of the moment you don't know how many shooters there are. To even allow him to get up and poke his head out multiple times and delay his exit seems wild to me.
It was cited as something she could exploit because of what Clarence Thomas said. It stinks to high heaven. This is even worse than her special master ruling - which was overturned - with a a very harsh rebuke. Aileen Cannon is biased. Plain and simple. It was literally sited just last week that this was a possibility.

Once a threat is recognized the SS should not move the principal off the stage. Trump should be moved to the closest secure position and be placed in a protective posture (to the platform of the stage and covered by the agents). Once the visible threat is eliminated a CAT (SWAT) will come out to scan for further threats and once they give the ok then you move to the vehicles. The agents have to anticipate multiple threats. You do not risk that the 1st sniper is a decoy and lead principal to the kill zone of an ambush.Oh, if they need to drag him out of there for an emergency... sure, they're actually trained to do just that.
Where the SS really failed here is just getting him off stage when the guy got up on the roof.... gun or no gun. It was impossible for anyone to physically get to that guy quickly at that point.
Just my take.
Maybe she is biased but no more so than the NY judges in both of his cases there and the DC judge hearing the 1/6 case.
