2024 Presidential Race

do you? if you did you'd see that the protest votes (uncommitted) + Biden votes still trails the Trump total
Who cares? There was no reason to turn out for Biden .... "Uncommitted" was the stiffest competition. You are reading too much significance into the lack of support in a primary election for an unopposed candidate.

so to the "it was D crossover votes" argument:

Polling had Trump at 69% and Haley at 20%; Actual was Trump 68 and Haley 26.6%

So if we take the extra 6.6% adding to the total vote tally we could attribute a value of about 72,500 extra that may have been D crossovers.

Like who?

No one person is going to unite this country when there are so many forces promoting extremism and division. Fox played
a big role in our polarization--a pure propaganda network run by a former GOP political operative and full of crazy commentators
pushing nonsense and conspiracy theories. Conservatives like to believe that CNN and Fox are the same, just on different sides,
but that is false. CNN was a boring news network when Fox got started and only got into commentary in reaction to Fox,, and while it's commentators tend to be moderates or center-leftists, the network has always been far more professional than Fox. Fact.

Beyond that, we see extremist right-wing media and extremist right-wing politicians who are not interested in compromise. They are
not interested in compromise on gun control--won't even ban assault rifles---or abortion. There are simply more and crazier extremists
on the political right. We're talking GOP politicians at the state and local who believe that 15-year-old rape victims should have the rapist's
baby--and there are states where this is law now--and who at the same time have not a care in the world about mass shootings and refuse
tighter gun regulation in any way. There is no compromising with extreme right-wing politicians--rednecks, christian crazies, conspiracy theorists. The Speaker of the House now is a wee man who wants to make government policy based on the bible. It's hard to compromise with people like that.

How bad is it on the right: There are a lot of people who think the gangster should be president again. You have to be mentally ill, unAmerican and
and to have lost all your moral values to want the gangster--a vile, traitorous lowlife and autocrat wannabe--in the White House again. Sensible people
understand that the man is a criminal and completely and utterly unfit to be a local dog catcher much less president, but many others apparently do not agree, and there is no way of comprising with MAGA people who are completely out of touch with reality--as is evident every time we hear one of them try to articulate their political views. They're morons.

Which brings up the educational divide. There is simply a big cultural and intellectual gap between Americans who are educated and those who are not, and that makes it hard to find commonality between the two. And their differences are exacerbated by media people and outside forces--especially Russian and Chinese disinformation, which has been rampant on social media for years. I know of no left-wing nations or organizations that create thousands of fake social media accounts to sow political and social division in America.

There are, simply put, far fewer extremists on the left--and those that might be pegged as such tend to be looking for a bit more equality and bit less white supremacy in America. We have no crazy, bizarre, ridiculous media people on the left. There is no equivalent of Alex Jones or of ANY of the many right-wing crackpots--including religious zanies--on the left. The left doesn't spread conspiracy theories 24/7--fact.

There is no reason why there cannot be compromise on issues like gun control and abortion--but we haven't seen it yet.

sorry the news isn't good for your boy but election results are analyzed. add this to the current average lead for Trump in Michigan of 4.2% and it's more confirmation that Michigan is a trouble spot for Biden.

show me any good news for Biden from the primary results.

Liz Chaney! Of course.

Or Michelle Obama. Great choice to unify the country.

Gavin! Now that’s a guy that’s gonna bring all people together.

Liz Chaney would be excellent, so would Michelle Obama. Newsome would be great just to see him verbally tear into
the gangster and all the morons and extremists on the right.

MAGA round two BISH!

sorry the news isn't good for your boy but election results are analyzed. add this to the current average lead for Trump in Michigan of 4.2% and it's more confirmation that Michigan is a trouble spot for Biden.

show me any good news for Biden from the primary results.

The polls will change a lot between now and election day--and not likely in favor of a traitorous, mentally ill criminal, even if MAGA are envious of his spray tan and mail-order bride, and even she hates the guy.

I'm to the point where I think we should do away with the primary system, go back to the way nominees were chosen at the conventions. Each party holds state caucuses to elect delegates to the conventions and they select the candidates.
I would like that as well. The handpicked state caucii should not carry the influence for the national candidate.

There isn't much of a recent sample size on Real Clear Politics. Only 5 polls so far in 2024 ..... and I still remember what the polls showed for Whitmer vs Dixon in 2022.

Once again, you are weighing too much significance in a primary election, for an unopposed candidate. Biden won Michigan by 154,000 votes in 2020 .... That's a lot to make up - I don't see it happening.

You pretend that Grandpa Joe is nice old pleasant ice cream munching well received person but in reality he is a a vile old racist codger that hates minorities and wants to destroy this country. Dems, please do better than Joe.

Best Regards

I'm not predicting a Trump win - I'm saying the results for Biden don't show good news and include plenty of warning signs. You can't just discount all the data.

There was a very well-organized protest vote against Biden. "Uncommitted" turned out an impressive showing. But let's face it .... Muslims will either not vote ... or they will hold their noses and vote for Biden. They are not going to vote for Trump.

as I said from the beginning - them not voting is enough. no one expects them to vote for Trump

I admire her stand against Trump's conduct. She had nothing to gain from it. However, her voting record was standard issue GOP. Most of the MAGA crowd would probably be surprised to learn that she voted with Trump's stated policy position over 90% of the time. Liz Chaney would not be "excellent" at all.

And Michelle Obama? Come on, man.

I think Governor Roy Cooper (North Carolina) would have been a good choice. He is 79 years old now, but Sen. Angus King (Maine) would have as well. Maybe even Sen. Bob Casey (Pennsylvania).

By the time the first group of state caucuses are completed the R candidate is pretty much chosen for the nation.

I don't see why that would be the case. Heck the parties could hold all 50 caucuses within a week or two.
