Recruiting Football Talk VII

Responding to a poster saying the OL is not a problem:
Well you are in the minority. People on campus know it’s a problem. They have so much dead weight they can’t get transfers to give them a look because of the number of bodies on the roster. Will they take steps to fix it? I guess time will tell. They have put a bandaid on the problem by bringing most everyone back. That will be a major issue to be addressed for 2025. And I’m watching Mincey in the next few days to be one that could leave or leverage because he can now with the transfer rule.

THE most neglected attribute a QB must have to be successful by fans and sometimes, coaches.
Yup. Also probably the attribute that has gotten many of coaches in college and NFL plus GMs in the NFL fired or on the hot seat. Coaches, and NFL GMs, care more about the physical side and hope that they can either coach the mental side up or limit the impact it has... “we can fix that..” type thoughts.

Josh Allen is a good example. All the physical tools in the world but his first year or two in the league he couldn’t process a thing. Eventually he came around and now look at him. But for every Josh Allen though there are dozens of QBs that had the physical side and never came around on the mental side.

Pruitt was bound to be right about something… it sure wasn’t Michael Penix.
It was the one brief second when he lined Jennings up in the wildcat with no huddle in scoring position at Bama, and the Birmingham officials looked to saban to get his attention to call a timeout, since neither Saban or his players had initiated a timeout, but Saban looked clueless, so the officials simply called a timeout for Saban so Saban could reset his confused and badly misaligned defense; and for that one brief moment Cornpone saw for himself how Bama wins and what everyone else knows but has largely grown too used to talk about much after a day. It was on Cornbread's face so clearly: the one moment when the constant corruption and preferential treatment became undeniable, even to a Gump. And then it went out of his other ear and into the ether.

Final day in the deserts of the Southwest. Been in Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts of Arizona quail and dove hunting, roadtripped through to Eastern New Mexico where we found some wetlands to duck hunt over. Saw hundreds of ducks (got several mallards) and thousands of sandhill cranes.

Drove into Roswell to watch the Vols stomp Iowa at a Buffalo Wild Wings. 80% of the TVs were on the Vols when we walked in, including all the giant ones. 3 TVs had Oregon v Liberty (all small ones). 0 screens had LSU v Wisconsin. It was unexpected.

Left from there and drove across the New Mexican plains north to Santa Fe and Los Alamos. Thousands of pronghorn on the plains. Mule deer and elk wandering the streets in the mountain towns where there's snow on the ground. Relaxing today, will go fly fishing this afternoon in the mountains. Been a great start to the New Year.

Did you meet Bob Lazar?

Bet they had a good time. Cam looks like he belongs on the field. Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous he was gonna look like a specialist guy only (toss sweeps, screens, draws, returns etc.) He looks like he's an every down back, no doubt.

He and Sampson are gonna be a solid 1-2 punch. Still cant wait til he gets a little daylight. People gonna flip out when they see that speed with his size.
Yeah he definitely does, proud of his progress. Yeah once everyone see that break out they are gonna be amazed at a 6'2 220lbs running that fast to the house!!!

That’s wonderful he had family present. He had quite the game tonight. I remember my son’s games and it was always important for us to be there. He always told me, it didn’t matter the size of the stadium, he could always hear my voice. I always found my way to the top bleachers so my voice could carry down to him, lol.
Lol, that's awesome!!!

Great to hear! Thanks for the photos.

A healthy Georgia beats the sh*t outta both these teams.
So Mr Smokin’, my dawg husband, is getting on my last nerve-he’s saying if Michigan wins the championship, then has to vacate the win, Georgia can ”3-peat” next year….grrrr

Actually he says “will”

I think Squirrel has potential but he’s never really put it together on a consistent basis. He underwhelmed me this past season. I think he’s a de facto starter but I don’t think his actual performance thus far in his career dictates an “elite” status that some of y’all want to give him.
I have a different assessment than you. I think he’s great, we just don’t get him the ball enough
